For about seven years the little children ate their meals one prayer at a time. Never, never, did any of the orphan children go without a meal. This biography for young readers explores the life of one of the most remarkable men of faith and prayer known outside of the Bible. But Mr. Mueller would want neither praise nor attention. He would want tall the glory to be given to God. Recommended for ages 7 to 9.

What adventures of faith he had: trusting God totally for his and his families needs; learning to pray so completely in the Lord's will that his prayers were always answered; preaching and teaching; helping people during a cholera epidemic, yet not becoming sick himself; rescuing the neglected, starving, homeless orphans the plague created; sitting orphans down to an empty table with no food in the house and receiving the food before the grace was finished; having no extra money, yet building many group homes for his orphans; and in later years, traveling worldwide to encourage the orphans and their rescuers in many lands.
The third in Rebecca Davis' Christian biographies series, George Mueller will bring enjoyment, learning, and spiritual growth to the whole family. Without glamorizing the sin, Davis tells the story exactly like it is. Aimed at elementary children, there is enough true and exciting adventure, sorrow, and joy in this book to interest everyone from preschoolers to adults. George Mueller makes an especially good choice for a family read-together session or devotion time. Schools and church groups will enjoy reading and discussing it. Then, you will want to try Rebecca Davis' other two books: With Daring Faith (Amy Carmichael), and Fanny Crosby: Queen of Gospel Songs. Donna Eggett, Christian Book Previews.com

I enjoyed its simplicity. I would highly recommend this for junior/senior high students or as a great family-read book for younger children.

Tell us a little about yourself. I am a wife, mother, writer, teacher, editor, and professional storyteller who loves to write and tell stories that bring glory to God.
What was your motivation behind this project? George Mueller played a major part in my Christian growth when I was 24. After reading his biography, after much prayer, I decided to follow his example in a small way when I went to graduate school at Bob Jones University, trusting the Lord to provide the funds. After three weeks in school I was offered a job at their publishing company that not only paid all my way, but gave me an education in writing and editing that I could previously have only dreamed about. If it hadn't been for George Mueller's example, I never would have trusted the Lord in such a seemingly audacious way.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Learning to trust God! The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works. George Mueller's example can inspire us to turn from anxiety and truly trust God for things that will bring Him glory, even for huge things.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I wrote this book about twenty years after being so deeply affected by Mueller's life. This time, as I studied his life more closely, I was made more aware that the life of faith wasn't all glorious; for example, for seven years he lived essentially hand to mouth. I recoiled and said, "I'm no George Mueller." Do you see what I did? Even while I was writing about the life of faith, I said that I couldn't live by faith! It was some time before I preached to myself, "Wait a minute, kiddo. You may not be George Mueller, but you still have *the very same God.*" Why did I see only the hand-to-mouth living and not see the completely faithful provision? God is God, glorious and powerful. This is what George Mueller set out to prove with his life. This is what I want to do as well.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I guess you can tell by what I just wrote that George Mueller is still an influence in my life. I still often think of how near the end of his days on earth he proclaimed once again that Christ is all, and all his life is Christ.
