After I read the book, it seemed like a good idea to visit online stores to read feedback before writing my own. What I find most interesting sometimes about others feedback is either statements without any thoughtful reasons why someone liked or disliked a book or what appears to be feedback without discernment. Now feedback on any book or product is completely subjective as anyone who writes reviews knows and that people can agree or disagree with what is posted sometimes responding to the person. I desired to read this book because I felt the prompting of the Holy Spirit to do so, and when I do, I am prayerfully reading the book. I constantly ask the Holy Spirit to show me what I can glean or need to ignore and if I feel conviction I stop reading to ask forgiveness. The reason I share this with you is to encourage all readers to carefully read nonfiction or fiction books with discernment and prayerfully.

Each adult offspring of these people share transparently both the ups and downs of living with parents who ministered full time as pastors or missionaries. One of the stories I appreciated most was written by Yana Banova Brink titled, Green Grass. She shares how the Lord taught her to allow Him to teach her the difference between doing ministry and allowing her life to be the ministry. She had traveled to many third world countries with her parents and now is a stay-at-home mom or referred to as SaHM. These women who choose to stay at home and raise their children without a job outside the home need to know they are in ministrytheir family. I was gratified that at least one of the writers shared this understated and under recognized truth in these days.

Readers need to know that most of the authors have a charismatic viewpoint and experiences. No matter what theological or congregational viewpoint a book comes from it is imperative to glean what the Lord wants you to and toss the rest. Sometimes when I would read, I sensed a red flag moment and other times I could laugh at a comical moment experienced by the author. Some of these adult children really went through rough times and heartache. The Lord was so faithful to bring them to a place of reconciliation, healing of the heart and soul or gave them a balanced perspective of the past.

"Sons of God's Generals" is a book about about PKs(Pastors kids) and MKs(Ministers kids) Who grew up in a modern day household of some of today's Christian Generals of the faith in God's army. This book contains stories told from the perspective of the now adult children in a way no else could tell it. You will read and learn what it was like living in the family of generals of the faith. When I first began to read this book I couldn't put it down! I cried and laughed hysterically. These stories will touch your heart and give you courage to step out on faith and do the impossible. This book will help you understand that life with generals does not necessarily mean you will have a problem-free life. Everyone in life experience trials, test, tribulations and heartbreaks no one is perfect even the best of us. So lay back have a cup of coffee and enjoy this heartwarming book.

Sons of God's Generals: Unlocking the Power of Godly Inheritance by Joshua Frost is a book about the children of high profile pastors, missionaries, and leaders in the church. Each of the sons and daughters have written a chapter in the book telling what it was like growing up in the household of their well known family. They answer the question, "What was it like growing up in this household, and how did it affect my relationship with God?"

I loved this book! I enjoyed learning about how each of sons and daughters made their relationship with Jesus their own. Some stayed close to Him throughout their childhood, and some rebelled against God, but in the end, fell in love with Jesus as their Savior.

As a parent, I enjoyed reading how each of the parents were willing to ask for forgiveness, humble themselves before the Lord, and reconcile with their children when they needed to. It inspired me to be a better parent, and gave me hope for my children.

    I highly recommend this book.

What an encouraging and inspiring book! Sometimes, in trying to raise a godly family, I get disheartened by what seems to be a terrible record of God-fearing parents turning out children who want nothing to do with the faith. Even in Scripture, this pattern seems to be repeated more often than not. And in our culture today, the stories of rebellious PKs (I mean, we coined the term "PK") seem to be the norm. And yet! This book offers an abundant amount of hope in the testimonies of those who are now part of generations of serving the Lord. It was incredibly easy to read, and as each chapter was the story of one individual and one family, every one was different, and it was very helpful to sort of get an overview of everyone's insights. I laughed, I cried, I gleaned lots of wisdom, and I came away with renewed hope, earnestly petitioning God to give my children this inheritance. Great great book! Highly recommended! Thanks to bookfun.org for the opportunity to read and review this book!

    My Review:

We all as part of God's family have a part or role in His army. And as you travel the long, narrow way you will soon see others that have a higher ranking that you meaning they have been traveling that road a lot longer then you have. These leaders or mentors are considered to be God's Generals---those people that can be an example and to help keep us "newbies" accountable because they have already been there and done that. Their knowledge and advice is priceless---and so needed. The author of Sons of God's Generals, has written a book that highlights the fruits grown by these mentors and their stories in which they helped these from a younger generation reach a better potential in God's Army through their guidance and perseverance. This book was a great read with tons of encouragement!

We will soon be embarking on Pastoral ministry, and the chapter I enjoyed the most was the first chapter where the person reflecting was a pastor's kid growing up. I wonder about this subject the most, because soon my children will be classified as "pastor kids" and we are worried about what effect this will have on their lives. We try so hard to instill in them a love for God that can not be burnt out by the flames of this world, so we are putting it in God's hands---number one because they are safe there. The person reflecting spoke of authenticity and this is definitely something we try to live out. We are the same at home as we are at church.

Many times we think that we actually scare potential "friends" away because of this fact about us. Authenticity scares people mainly because they are afraid that they too must be authentic and maybe they aren't ready for that or they have things that they would rather keep to themselves. We on the other hand want you to be real with us just like we are real with you. And he was dead on when he said it develops a trust between the individuals. We need to be authentic and real with each other it helps us to grown in Christ! We all need help to be better at revealing our true selves to each other and we also need to be released from the fear of doing so.
