mary1 Stars Out Of 5Furious LoveNovember 17, 2015maryQuality: 1Value: 2Meets Expectations: 1I bought some of Wanderlust's other documentaries and thought they were pretty good. i did not like this one. First of all, I study mysticism. I do a lot of reading and have some understanding of what Buddhism and mysticism are about. Wanderlust's producers did a terrible job of covering the Buddhist issue. It was inaccurate and condescending. Get it together folks. if you want anyone to believe you are for Love, then be Love. Making your religion look good by making others' look bad is not the way to do it.

Well worth seeing how God is working around the world, and how very blessed America still is.

He said it was life changing. I did not feel the same about the movie but it was very good. I think I would rather have borrowed a copy of this than to buy my own but overall I am glad I saw this flick.

Tell us a little about yourself. I am the Founder and CEO of Wanderlust Productions, which is housed on the campus of Judson University in Elgin, Illinois. I am currently the Artist-in-Residence at Judson as well, and my new non-profit endeavor, The Wanderlust Foundation will be partnering with Judson to give students hands on experience making films for the kingdom of God. I have released two films, Furious Love and it's predecessor, Finger of God. We are currently working on two feature length films, both due out in 2011, two short films due out this year, a cartoon, and my first book will be released in early 2011. Oh yeah, and I am married with 3 kids, so I'm a little busy these days!
What was your motivation behind this project? I wanted to put God's love to the test, and in doing so, I hoped to show people (and myself) what His love actually looks like. It's not a Hallmark card or a witty saying on a sign, and it's definitely not safe and fuzzy. My goal was to make God and His love for us as real and as tangible as it has ever been on film. Judging by the response we're getting, we may have succeeded!
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope people walk away with a profound sense of how much God loves them, and that this understanding will have moved from their head to their heart. I also hope that the film will spurn a revolution of love within the church, because God knows we need one. More than anything, I hope people are challenged to start living what they say they believe, namely, to love the lost and the unloved.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? As was the case with Finger of God, my entire theology was changed while making this film. Our faith is meant to be radical, and our Lord was a radical man when he was here. I guess you can say I'm a healthy radical at this point.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? It sounds silly, but I've always hoped to be able to make movies like U2 makes music. I want to make films that transcend the time they are made in, and that affect people on various levels. I'm not interested in making safe, easy movies. I want to poke at the parts of our souls that need poking, but do it in a way that is entertaining. Basically, I want to tell good stories. God can take care of the rest.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Furious Love is not a safe movie, and it's not for children. This is a film for grown ups about a faith that asks us to become like children. The response to the film has been overwhelming thus far, with many, many people claiming it is the most powerful movie they have ever seen. Finger of God got me into a little trouble with the more conservative Christians, but this movie appears to be getting embraced by every denomination across the board. In the end, it's about love, and that's kind of hard to pick on, apparently.
