Publisher's Description

Friday's Child is a man obsessed... MI-5 agent Patrick Page is on the trail of a drug smuggler. He doesn't have time to revisit his past when he reconnects with the girl who got away--his girlfriend from college working at a library. He's more than surprised to see sweet Ellie singing on stage when he slips into a nightclub to gain intel on the club's owner. Why is she working two jobs? Why is she using an alias? Is she somehow involved? And is her involvement with his suspect merely a business relation or is there more to their partnership? Ellie has a secret she doesn't want Patrick to know. His daughter. She'd turned custody over to her parents, however now she wants to be a mother not just a sister. But her own mother can't seem to let go neither has she forgiven Ellie for her past. So Ellie works two jobs and supports them both. Her one light is her music. The career she abandoned, and her boss has promised to make her a star. But now with Patrick back in her life she's questioning her choices. And is he interested in her, or does he have some hidden agenda? Does Patrick have a secret too?

This review was written for Friday's Child.
FRIDAY'S CHILD is another thrilling installment in a 7 book series by Clare Revell. Like the others, this one is packed with romance and suspense. After fourteen years, Patrick Page is reunited with the girl he fell in love with at university, Elle Harrison. But Elle is hiding something - the truth about why she left Patrick all those years ago...their daughter. She's got other secrets, too, but when someone threatens her and MI5 gets involved, Patrick must protect Elle without letting his emotions get involved. Which proves impossible. As the romantic tension ratchets up so do the stakes. Now Elle's daughter's life is in danger. Patrick and Elle struggle to work through what happened in the past and figure out if they can have a future. Then MI5 learns that Elle has connections to the drug smuggling case Patrick has been working. Is she involved in criminal activity?

What's nice about this romantic suspense story is that while the tension stays taut and conflicts abound, there's no melodrama. Abbie, Elle's daughter, is a true-to-life teenager complete with sarcasm and "it's all about me" hurt feelings. Patrick still loves Elle but now he's spent over a decade married to his job - he can't just stop being a spy. He isn't always understanding and patient. Sometimes he is bossy and demanding, without explaining himself. Very realistic and brings his character to life. Elle isn't just all "oh, I can't tell him, woe is me"! She is focused on making enough money to get out of the nightclub scene and keeping Abbie safe. Again, a real and 3-dimensional character.

And then there's the British aspect. Americans love all things British, it seems. There's plenty of things in here that are very different from what we do or say here in the U.S. but with enough additional context to be easily understood. It's fun reading about another culture, taking a peek at how they do things on the other side of "the pond." Yet, the message of God's forgiveness, the idea of love conquering all, and the good old-fashion good guys vs. bad guys suspense is universal.

A must read for romantic suspense fans!
