Breakthrough author Francis Chan rips away paper and bows to get at the true source of the church's powerthe Holy Spirit. Chan contends that we've ignored the Spirit for far too long, and we are reaping the disastrous results. Thorough scriptural support and compelling narrative form Chan's invitation to stop and remember the One we've forgotten, the Spirit of the living God.

In looking it up before we purchased we were hesitant to buy but we decided to go ahead with the class. The underlying exegesis is lacking. Things seem to picked out of here and there and throw together into a book and Study Guide. It also seems to foster the notion that people are afraid of the Holy Spirit or some such. It is confusing and it is hard to grasp what the author is really trying to say about the Holy Spirit.

Francis Chan emphasizes the great need of the Holy Spirit in our lives and in the church. We have drifted so far from the Holy Spirit we read about in the first century church. What we have come to accept as the 'Normal Christian Life' today doesn't measure up to the 'Normal Christian Life' of the first century church in the book of Acts. For the most part, we have shut the Holy Spirit out of our lives and out of the church. Great Book!

Q: I am not pentecostal nor charismatic. Is this book about the fruits of the Holy Spirit or the indwelling of the Holy Spirit?
This product does not focus on the fruit of the spirit, but on how the Holy Spirit moves and interacts with the Church. The author intended it to be used to help realize the power that the Holy Spirit gives to individuals and the Church. The reader does not need to be Pentecostal or Charismatic to appreciate this book.
