Love Story with a Twist of Kid
I loved this one--4.5 thumbs UP! Way to go, Loree Lough!
You take your average countrified childless widow, one jilted uncle/pediatrician, and one small orphan that both of them love to distraction, and it adds up to quite a stew.
Eli (the small orphan) has had more tragedy than most people experience in a lifetime. First his dad is killed in Afganistan. Then his mom dies. And his best friend can't walk and gets sick way too easy.
The will says Aunt Taylor has custody of Eli, and Uncle Reese is totally unhappy with that decision. He's mad at her even though she's the one who suggests he should get Eli every other weekend. Even though she shares the time with Eli and even invites him to join them for meals and events. Even though she's smart and pretty and generous and sweet. Sweet smelling, too.
And then there's this famous country-western singer who's hanging around way too much at Taylor's bed-and-breakfast. Reese doesn't like that, either.
Hmm. I wonder what's happening here? Wanta find out? Maybe you should buy a copy, what do you think?

A Broken Family, Healing and Restoration
Loree Lough in her new book, âÂÂFor Love Of Eliâ Book Four in the Quilts of Love Series published by Abingdon Press brings us into the lives of Reece Montgomery and Taylor Bradley.
From the back cover: Can pieces of the past bring healing and forgiveness?
When unspeakable tragedy leaves young Eli an orphan, two families are devastated. But Taylor, EliâÂÂs aunt and legal guardian, vows to help him remember his parents by creating a Memory Quilt. As she begins piecing together the moments of his parentsâ lives, the story of the young family emerges and Taylor and Eli begin to heal.
But EliâÂÂs uncle Reece is slow to let go of the past and still blames TaylorâÂÂs brother for his sisterâÂÂs death. So, although he has long been attracted to Taylor, Reece keeps a safe distance away. Can their shared love for Eli pave the way to forgiveness or will Taylor and Reece be separated by pain?
I am very impressed with Loree Lough as a writer. No matter what genre she is writing in, mystery/suspense or family drama she always does a superb job. âÂÂFor Love Of Eliâ is no exception. This is a story that is all about family and about taking care of a darling little boy by his Aunt and Uncle on each side of his parents. Reece has a problem with grief, guilt and false responsibility. Not being able to come to terms with them is hampering his life and preventing him from moving forward and for receiving the true love that God has for him. It takes God to get him to be healed from his pain and to move forward with Taylor and Eli. Ms. Lough has managed to weave the romance between Reece and Taylor in such a way that it just captivates you. She makes you care for all the characters and their journey. This is also just plain fun and exciting as well. DonâÂÂt start this book late at night because it will cost you sleep as you wonâÂÂt want to give them up.

Wonderful addition to the Quilts of Love series
Loree Lough crafts a beautiful story of sacrifice and love in For Love of Eli. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book and these characters. I was touched by this story of Eli and the two care givers that love him and want the very best for him. Taylor is a wonderful lady, almost too wonderful but not quite, who truly wants Eli to have the best relationship with his Uncle Reece as possible. Uncle Reece on the other hand is pretty bitter at how things worked out and his one soft spot is Eli. He would do anything for Eli. Taylor and Reece's shared love for Eli becomes their bond but is it enough to bring them together. As Taylor crafts a quilt for Eli with pieces of his past, the future is being knit together. It is really a precious story that I really enjoyed reading.

Healing and forgiveness can be found!
"You should be thanking God that you have these things to help you remember your loved ones."
How true this wisdom was coming from 4-year-old Eli who had already dealt with handling the loss of both his parents. Now if only Taylor could come to terms with her own grief and finally look in the attic where the memories of her family lay waiting to be discovered. After opening the trunk her mother had left for her, she discovered a box at the bottom with a letter that was written by her mother when she was 7 years old. Inside the box lay scraps of fabric her mother had hoped to turn into a memory quilt but died before she had the chance. Yet poor Eli didn't have much to remember either of his parents as his mother had gotten rid of most of their personal affects before she died.
Taylor had been appointed as Eli's guardian by his mother and as his aunt she wants to do something for his birthday to help him keep the love of his parents close to his heart. He spends his time helping Taylor with running the Misty Wolf Inn, a quaint Bed and Breakfast with a few horses for the guest enjoyment. Taylor alternates weekends and holidays with Eli's Uncle Reece, a pediatrician who is still having a hard time coming to grips with the fact he didn't see the signs of depression in his sister until it was too late. Now he spends his time second guessing every probable circumstance that could go wrong to make sure nothing happens to Eli. However no matter how much animosity he has for Taylor, it's her charming ways of making him feel cared for that is slowly melting his ice cold heart. Hopefully he will realize it before someone else does and whisks her away instead.
I received For Love of Eli by Loree Lough compliments of Christian Fiction Blog Allliance and Abingdon Press for my honest review. This is truly a story about healing and understanding that the process of grief is a long one and also one that never ends but gets easy to manage over time. Too many times all the "what if's" begin to surface when it seems as though we could have alleviated the issue or helped to prevent it from occurring in the first place. It goes to show some very heart felt emotions not only within the characters of Taylor and Reece but also in the child like faith of Eli, who truly is much older than he is on the inside. This is a great novel to share with anyone trying to get over something from the past and moving into the healing and forgiveness stage. I easily rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars! This is the fourth book in the Quilts of Love Series!
