Fool: Identifying and Overcoming Character Deficiency Syndrome is a forensic, worldview-conscious study of the fool and folly as depicted in the Bible, especially in the Book of Proverbs. The message of author Garry Nation is that character deficiency (folly) is a vicious, predictable, downward spiral of destructive personal choices. Moral upbringing and ethics training may interrupt and temper it, but God's grace alone can cure it. Sometimes humorous, sometimes exasperating, sometimes tragic, but always engaging, Fool uncovers surprising insights into what makes us all tick---and how to fix what's broken.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project? The question of ethical character (and its deficiency) has become a matter of lively public discussion in the past few years, and promises to be so for a long time to come. A society oriented toward feelings has awakened to the fact that character matters. While the rest of the world tries to figure out how to restore moral character, Christians must return to the Bible for guidance. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction." (Proverbs 1:7) Fool: Identifying and Overcoming Character Deficiency Syndrome is a forensic, worldview-conscious study of character. The core of the book is a study of the fool and folly as depicted in the Bible, primarily in Proverbs. The message of Fool is that character deficiency (folly) is a vicious, predictable, downward spiral of destructive personal choices. Sound moral training may interrupt and temper it, but God's grace alone can cure it. Sometimes humorous, sometimes exasperating, sometimes tragic, but always engaging, Fool uncovers surprising insights into what makes us all tickand into what will fix what is broken.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: An added feature is "The Book of Wisdom and Folly," a collated arrangement of the proverbs and passages exposited in the book. Included as an appendix, this section in itself is a fresh treatment of the subject that would make the book worth the purchase for further study.
