EVER HAVE TROUBLE TALKING TO GOD?
Perhaps everyone has felt some degree of fear and trepidation at the thought of talking with a perfect and almighty God. Though we should come before God's throne with awe-inspired reverence, we should always remember that God wants to hear from us; He wants us to talk to Him. It is when we talk to the Lord through prayer that we experience the closeness and personal touches of an ever-living and compassionate Father.
Sadly, few people really know how to talk with God, even though God Himself, through the Person of Jesus Christ, teaches us how to pray in His Word. Following God : Praying God's Way is a twelve-week study that expounds on biblical teaching as to how we should pray. The study addresses issues that are hindrances to our communication with God, such as lack of sincerity, pride, selfishness, etc. In the author's view, all hindrances to effective prayer are rooted to one core problem--sin. By reading this study, you will be better equipped to leap over the obstacles of sin and communicate with God in a way that is pleasing to Him
In the pages of this book, you will find answers to the following questions:
* When we pray, is there a certain formula or arrangement of words we must repeat?
* How can we overcome hindrances to prayer, such as pride, and walk with GOD in humility?
* What does it mean to pray the Word of God?
* What posture should we use while praying? Must we always be on our knees with heads bowed and eyes closed?
* How do we know which needs are worthy of bringing to our Father?
* What does Jesus teach us concerning prayer?

"This study consistently takes the student to the Word of God. A refreshing study that says true to scripture."

We see examples in the OT of how the Israelites walked - when they ignored God and the ramifications of that, and when they cried out and recognized God for who He was (is); and in the NT how we are to pray individually and as a body of believers - in light of who He is and His death on the cross for our sins. The last chapter is "Jesus Prayed" and I've only started the chapter, but what an amazing impact it has had on me already when you pause and consider the example that Jesus left for us. "That Righteous Man truly was and is the Son of God who triumphed over sin and death. He lives today to live in us, to lead us in a walk with Himself and the Father by the power and presence of His Spirit. He wants us to experience the joy of that walk as He leads us in praying God's way and has assured us that we can experience joy by His power and work." (Day Four Ch. 12) There are 12 chapters in the book and we divided it among 22 weeks for a ladies' Bible study. Lots of good, solid, biblical content - be prepared for your heart to change if you'll humble yourself before Him to learn of Him!
Janet Maffia5 Stars Out Of 5September 4, 2008Janet MaffiaI love this study!! Just about 1/3 way through because it just arrived a little while ago. I LOVE the true old fashioned BIBLE BASIS of this, as I am finding that becoming more and more a rarity even in evangelical church. The swing seems to be more in the way of men's books, instead of Bible basics. Again, I love this so much. I have not started the "Defending Your Faith" or "Kings of the Old Testament" because I want to do one at a time, but glancing through them I am excited to get into those studies also. I am so hungry for God's Word, as there seems to be a "famine of the Word" nowadays. Thank you so much and I am looking forward to ordering more in this series as I complete these. Janet Maffia
