We just received this book and the corresponding spiral bound notebook (*ordered separately). My nine year old son is VERY excited. He's interested in animals and can read the text by himself (phonetic pronounciations are provided for all of the new words). We don't homeschool, yet. This is something we're planning on doing outside of school. The notebook contains a lesson plan that is REALLY easy to follow. I'm confident that we'll be able to do just about everything in the book. The introduction contains a section on immersing a student in a subject instead of giving them bits and pieces. This text combines science with reading, writing, vocabulary and experimentation. Immersion looks alot better than our local public school practice of "explain a little, do a worksheet and forget about it". It leave my son with alot of unanswered questions, but not any encouragement or assistance to find the answers (since they have to move onto another subject).

We use this for our science and love it! We have 9 and 7yr old boys (who are at the school age level) and we read and learn through this together. We have a lot of fun and they enjoy how in depth the information is about the animals (I do too!).

Super interesting science curriculum with a Christian point of view. I teach a 9 year old and a six year old, my six year old can participate in the experiments too. I highly recommend this series.

My seven year old and I have really enjoyed this text. Finally, a Christian curriculum that is both scientifically sound and interesting! I have really been happy with the depth of exploration into each subject and the extra projects and experiments. Most of these do not call for anything very difficult to find and are not difficult to put together.

Both my daughter, age 8, and myself are really enjoying this science book. It gives lots of detail but in a way that she can understand or at least grasp a large portion. The experiments are simple, things you have on hand, fun, and enlightening. Would recommend to all.

I am so glad I purchased this science curriculum. It was exactly what I was looking for in teaching from creation and focusing the school year on a couple of subjects!

I've had my eye on this book for a while now and finally ordered it. We haven't started it yet, but I have been looking through it and love it! I'll be ordering more from Apologia.

We have just started the lessons. We are enjoying them so far. The experiments are easy but very helpful to explain the concepts. My boys enjoyed the Scavenger Hunt from lesson 1. Lessons are well explained and easy to discuss with the kids.
