Hospitality consultant Andrea Sullivan has one last chance to snag a high-profile client or she'll have to kiss her dreams of promotion good-bye. When she's sent to meet Scottish celebrity chef James MacDonald on the Isle of Skye, she just wants to finish her work as efficiently as possible. Yet her client is not the opportunistic womanizer he portrays himself to be, and her attraction to him soon dredges up memories she'd rather leave buried. For James, renovating the family hotel is a fulfillment of his late father's dreams. When his hired consultant turns out to be beautiful, intelligent, and completely unimpressed by his public persona, he makes it his mission to win her over. He just never expects to fall under her spell.
Soon, both Andrea and James must face the reality that God may have a far different purpose for their lives-and that five days in Skye will forever change their outlook on life and love.

The characters were real, breathing, flawed but loving individuals. The settings were described with a deft and engaging hand (I have to go to Scotland now!) and the story arc had me burning through pages until I reached 'The End' then promptly launched into London Tides. I can't wait for book 3 in this series. Carla Laureano has launched to the top of a very short 'must buy immediately' list of authors for me.

I could not get the book cover to download. So the review is without a cover of the book. Sorry.
This is a romance set in beautiful Scotland. Andrea Sullivan is a professional hospitality consultant; she is good at her job but on her last consultation she rebuffed a clients advances. Andrea feels she is being punished when her boss sends her to Scotland and international acclaimed Chef James MacDonald on a consulting job. Andrea is obsessed with her job and redeeming herself after the last fiasco. Both characters are strong independent career minded people. Andrea keeps seeing James as a man with ulterior motives. All James wants is to open a hotel in Scotland that he did not get to open with his father before he passed and to become close to Andrea. The book begins with a funny meeting between Andrea and James, that just made me howl. What follows is a ramp thru beautiful Scotland. The authors descriptions of Scotland were so vivid I could see each scene she described. Scotland would be the one place in the world I would love to visit and her descriptions just fueled that desire even more. Ms. Laureano created two main characters that have to learn to trust, forgive old hurts, heal old wounds, and love again not only within themselves and each other, but in their relationship with God. Faith is an interwoven theme in the book. Ms. Laureano did a great job pacing the book, backgrounds, and faith thru the story and the book does not feel preachy or stiff. Follow James and Andrea as they fall in love; Andrea falls for Scotland and James, and finds her love of God. Andrea reckoning with God was heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time. A truly good love story between Andrea, James and God.
I would recommend highly recommend this book.
I received this book from the publishers and Netgalley for an honest review.
Rebecca ManeyGastonia, North CarolinaAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Hopelessly Romantic!July 3, 2015Rebecca ManeyGastonia, North CarolinaAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Hopelessly romantic! "Five Days in Skye" was mesmerizing; engaging, entangling, enthralling; weaving a love between two broken individuals who struggled valiantly to shed their past, while courageously tip toeing towards their future. Incredibly, this love story was conceived and delivered within five days; five days in possibly one of the most beautiful places on the face of the earth; the Isle of Skye. What were the chances that it could survive?
Andrea Sullivan, hospitality consultant, is pursuing a signed contract. James MacDonald, world-renowned chef and restaurateur, is innocently flirting with a beautiful woman. When the two travel to Scotland's island of paradise to review the renovation of a MacDonald family property, Andrea's New York City lifestyle comes to a screeching halt. James is quite outspoken about the fact that he can persuade Andrea to fall in love with the lush countryside, the magnificent sunrises, the succulent menus, and the majestic castles, but something much deeper innocently transpires. Lovely, witty, and tear filled conversations comprise the brilliance of this story; the characters have time to become known, all their flaws, all their pain, all their dreams; all come crashing together upon the shores of a love that has the potential to become forever.
Carla Laureano has proven herself to be a writer of significance with just one story, "Five Days in Skye"!
KatyTennesseeGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Contemporary romanceJune 12, 2015KatyTennesseeGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Five Days in Skye is an intense, contemporary romance that will keep you turning pages as you become immersed in this exciting story of love, forgiveness, and redemption. I love this novel.
The main characters, Andrea and James, are so well developed, I feel as if they are people I know. The setting of the story is vividly described, and I feel like Ive missed something by not visiting there.
The spiritual thread is naturally woven into the story and adds to its depth. I always enjoy a novel that makes me think, and this one does that well.
Although the story has a very satisfying ending, I did hate to see it end. I will remember Andrea and James story for quite some time.
