This was a sweet story about Reyne, a fire fighter who had been emotionally scarred by a wildfire that killed 4 of her co-workers. She meets Logan, a smokejumper who also fights fires and the romance begins. I appreciated how the story moved along and we got to be a part of their relationship. So many romance stories have so many problems up until the very end and you never get to see the happy times except for the epilogue. I thought the story was engaging and along with the romance there was a very sweet story of friendship being told about Reyne, Beth and Rachel. The end of the book had a novella that allowed us to see what happens with Matt and Hope. Well done.
I received this book free from Waterbrook Multnomah in exchange for my review.
This is book 6 in the Refuge series, but you don't have to have read the other books to enjoy this one. This book tells about the developing relationship between Reyne and Logan. Reyne was part of a fire jump that went bad and since then she distances herself from the main lines, but then she meets and begins to have feelings for Logan, a fire jumper, and must work through her feelings for him and her fear of the front line.

I loved that the author connected Reyne to the stories of Rachel and Beth...how close they are as they struggle with tragedy and celebrate their love for God and their men! Reyne story was moving as she came to terms with her fears and committed to loving Logan. Her losses as a firefighter were especially meaningful to me as we lost 4 young firefighters in the NW in exactly the same type of firestorm that opened up this book.
