Tell us a little about yourself. I was brought up in southeast Alaska and then lived several years in Washington state. Moving back to Alaska, I taught in a small Christian school for ten years, and then moved to the east coast to pursue writing and publishing. I currently work for CLC Publications in the Philadelphia area. I love to read, especially biography and church history. I also sing at my church and dabble in scenic photography.
What was your motivation behind this project? I wanted to produce a quality study guide that would do more than ask questions with easy-to-find answers, instead taking readers to the Bible so they could understand truths more fully for themselves. I sought to provide thoughtful, and hopefully helpful, questions.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope folks will take the teaching from Michael Catt's book and from there, go to God's Word to confirm and deepen what they learn, enriching their relationship with the Lord.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I was challenged to look to Scripture in order to develop helpful questions for others. It caused me to explore the truth of standing strong in the fires of life more closely. I was especially encouraged by the final chapter of Fireproof Your Life, in which we are reminded that we are building for eternity - how we live now is of eternal importance.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Primary influences for me are Jim and Carol Cymbala of the Brooklyn Tabernacle, K.P. Yohannan of Gospel for Asia and Elisabeth Elliot. Favorite sources of inspiration from the past would be Oswald Chambers, Patricia St. John, F.B. Meyer, George Muller and Hudson Taylor.
