Ken Wilson has created a superb and unique resource that so many others before him have missed. This jewel of a book empowers Christians, Seekers and even Non-Christians to understand and gain vital, faith-building knowledge of God through Bible scripture. Far too often, I meet individuals struggling with accepting Christ into their lives and not "knowing" how God truly perceives them personally. Ken provides a key to unlock the door to help one clearly present the word of God to those with an open mind and heart. Every church, small group and adult class should make this book available...

Ken Wilson, a neighbor, asked me to review this book when it was in it's preliminary stages. Since I was not a Christian at the time, I had to ask Ken to show me how to look up some of the Bible Verses--I even had to borrow one of Ken's Bibles, since I didn't have one. Ken asked me to review it for punctuation and it's content. I worked through this book (which was almost exactly like the final version) and found that the content was nicely broken down and easy to understand. The Scripture verses in each chapter brought home the point and looking them up was a life-changing experience. After working through this book and asking Ken to explain some of the things that I didn't fully understand--along with a traumatic experience in my life--I understood the Good News of salvation and wanted to accept Jesus Christ into my heart. Ken was there to lead me through the Sinner's Prayer. Since coming to the Lord, I have used Ken's book to teach other Seekers the Good News and have been blessed with leading others to the Lord. This book is a tremendous tool in bringing the Gospel to others. The "bridge" analogy is very visual and simple and breaks Salvation down into it's simplest and most graffic terms. The illustrations in each chapter are fantastic and are similar to the kind of parables that Jesus used to bring a point home. And finally, the Up Close and Personal stories in each chapter are true--because my story is included--only my name was changed. I know a few of the people personally and their testimonies speak for themselves. This book is great fruit for any "Seeker" to digest and also for any mature Christian to devour. I highly recommend this book to any church, congregation, small group leader, or anyone desiring to spread God's Good News of Salvation to others.

Author/Artist Review

Tell us a little about yourself.  I am a bridge engineer who feels a real sense of calling as a layperson. I left my engineering career in my 20's and went to Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary - wanting to invest my life in eternal things and make my life count for God. Through the process of graduating from seminary, I learned that God has wired and gifted me such that He can use me most effectively as a layperson. I have a passion for evangelism and for small groups, and this book is the marriage of those two passions.

What was your motivation behind this project?  My motivation behind this project was simply to get the gospel message out there to as many people as possible in a user-friendly, nonthreatening way - both to family and to friends. I have tested this booklet with several of my own friends, and God has already used it to bring several of them to Himself.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  This book is written to help people bring their friends to Christ, either through a small group or a one-on-one friendship. The content of the book is the basic gospel message, written in the form of a short Bible study. This allows people to discover the Good News for themselves, in a safe and nonthreatening manner.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  After I came to Christ as a teenager, I grew immensely through Bible studies (primarily through The Navigators) that led me to key portions of the Bible, asked me relevant questions, and allowed me to write my answers in a booklet. I have long searched for such a Bible study booklet that presents the basic gospel message for not-yet-Christians to use. Since I could never find one, I chose to develop one myself. Writing and testing it has been one of the greatest joys of my life!

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  God laid this dream of writing an evangelistic Bible study booklet on my heart about 20 years ago. After much prayer and perseverance and experiencing God's goodness, it has finally come to fruition. If any of you have a God-sized dream, please do not let it die. Go after it!
