Editorial Reviews

Thisbook is a great tail of love forgiveness, and second chances. The thing Iabsolutely loved about this book was its ability to show that when we walk withChrist we aren’t held to our past. I think so often we, me included, forgetthat when we accept God’s grace and forgiveness the past is the past and we’reable to move on. This book does a great job at showing the same themes throughdifferent people and different stories.

Finally a Bride is fun, very romantic, and inspiring. It’s recommended reading for anyone who wants to spend a few hours enjoying a great love story that brings with it a message of hope.

The third Texas Boardinghouse Brides book picks up where the last book left off. It is filled with strong and appealing characters.  Although predictable, the romance between Jacqueline and Noah is a sweet story that brings the series full circle.  The author teaches us about redemption and shows God's plan for each one of us.  With enough summary of the other two books included in this story, this can be read as a stand-alone.

The story was not only fun, but had some pretty intense underlying themes such as redemption, acceptance, and forgiveness.  The book is really well-written and the characters come alive on the page and you part as friends.  You will fall in love with this heart-warming tale.

If you like western romance then this is a great series and a must read! I am looking forward to reading more books from this author.

A story with feisty characters and more than a touch of humor. A story of second chances, restoration and God's grace.

Finally a Bride is a heart-warming story of redemption, forgiveness, and finally, acceptance, in the face of adversity. It is chock full of lovely well-rounded characters that look to God for direction to reach their individual goals in life. A strong, uplifting plot keeps the reader reading to a satisfying conclusion. The growth of each of the main characters, especially Jack and Noah, is both profound and extremely satisfying. It hits its mark without coming off as preachy. This is a must-read for any fan of inspirational historical romance. Finally a Bride is a real gem.

Vickie McDonough's third book in the Boardinghouse Brides trilogy is possibly her best yet.

All the story lines come full circle, wrapping up the series in a truly satisfying ending. Vickie McDonough is coming into her own as a popular inspirational historical romance author. Her books just keep getting better and better!

Finally a Bride is fun, very romantic, and inspiring. It’s recommended reading for anyone who wants to spend a few hours enjoying a great love story that brings with it a message of hope.

Vickie McDonough has penned a terrific read. She puts excitement into her prose that keeps the reader enthralled and turning the pages. There is nary a dull moment and her characters come across as believable and humanly faulty.

Finally a Bride is all about second chances. Readers will find life lessons within its pages. I read a previous book in this series, and will be looking for the one that I missed and other books by this talented author.

I would recommend this book to any and everyone because it has a positive and uplifting story with a great outcome. It goes to show that when someone willingly commits their life to Jesus they have to change from their their old ways no matter how major or minor to truly follow him.

I was so happy to learn that the third book in the Texas Boardinghouse Brides series was about Jack and Butch. I was also happy to see Carly back. And I'm happy to say that I wasn't disappointed with Finally A Bride...This was an enjoyable read and I would certainly recommend this book.

Finally a Bride is a charming love story that teaches a valuable lesson in forgiveness and acceptance. It is an inspiring novel of redemption as Jack, Noah and Carly put the mistakes of their past behind them and accept the love that God brings into their lives.

This review was written for Finally a Bride - eBook.
Carly Payton returns to Lookout, Texas after being gone for a decade. In prison for much of that time, she is a changed woman that knows she is forgiven. Garrett Corbett is still single after all that time, and he is seeking an upstanding, virtuous woman for a wife. Knowing what he wants, yet attracted to Carly even before he realized who she was, he struggles to forgive her past. Will they be able to admit their growing interest in each other, or will Carly's ex-con past be the stumbling block that keeps them apart forever?

Jacqueline "Jack" Davis is all grown up, and not the slightest interested in men. Determined to make her name as a reporter, she will do anything to get the breaking news. When the temporary preacher, Noah Jeffers, rides in town, she can't help but feel she's known him all her life. Struggling her growing interest in Noah, and her decision to be a reporter in Dallas; she is completely unprepared when his biggest secret may come too late in time to save her heart from falling in love with him. Will the truth set Noah free, or has his biggest shame and secret become his undoing?

This is definitely my favorite book in the Texas Boardinghouse Trilogy. Jack is always sticking her nose where it doesn't belong, and Noah is forever trying to redeem himself for his unsavory past. The chemistry between Noah and Jack is undeniable, and it was a breathless experience reading how their story unfolded. Garrett was just about as stubborn as I expected, but of course, his end was completely predictable. It was an exciting, yet thought-provoking journey and there is not a dull moment within these pages.

This was one of the best series I've ever read. Had never read this author before, but I will certainly be looking for more books by her. I just hated to see the ending of the third book. I wanted these stories to go on and on.

    Jack's back!

Having read the first two offerings in this author's Texas Boardinghouse Brides series, I had already fallen in love with young Jacqueline Davis (aka Jack Hamilton). The tomboyish child is all grown up in Finally a Bride, and dreams of snagging a job as a reporter in Dallas and shaking the dust of Lookout, Texas off her feet.

Then Noah Jeffers comes to town to fill in for the minister. He's young. He's handsome. And he's hiding a secret that could destroy any chance of a relationship with Jack. Those same secrets have the young preacher making covert amendments all over town. His offers to chop wood for the town's busybody sisters and paint the walls of the general mercantile aren't made strictly out of the goodness of his heart_

Even as Jack and Noah sort through their feelings for each other and try to find their paths in life, one of the original Lookout brides returns to town. Carly Payton is an ex-convict, and not at all the kind of wife Garrett Corbett thought he wanted. But Garret's about to learn a surprising lesson about how love works_and about the amazing grace of God.

I loved this entire series, but Finally a Bride is far and away my favorite of the three books. Jack (Jackie, Jacqueline) is the perfect heroine—she's likeable, has tremendous personality, and possesses a penchant for getting herself into trouble. Noah is the ultimate flawed hero, with his inability to stomach pork, an amusing inclination to mispronounce words during his sermons, and a touching devotion to a certain young lady. And, as always, encountering well-loved characters from previous books is a special treat.

Texas Boardinghouse Brides is, in this reader's opinion, a top-notch series. Each book is better than the last_which says a lot for the author's writing and storytelling skills. Kudos to Vickie McDonough, and "both thumbs up" to Finally a Bride!
