The third full length album from Falling Up pairs driving rock numbers with dreamy ballads, punctuated by the passionate vocals of singer Jessy Ribordy. Includes the radio hit "Hotel Aquarium" plus "Goodnight Gravity," "Maps," and more.
The third time is the charm for this insanely talented rock band from Oregon. They hit it big with their first album, and the second showed promise and growth.
But with Captiva they hit a home run out of the park.
Full of fantastic singles like “Hotel Aquarium” that will rock you and have you singing along, you can almost hear this band getting even bigger as you listen. They not only go up with this new release, they go further in and get deep, with all the lyrics pointing to a central theme that deals with how God can work through our weaknesses and cover us with grace.
Musically, this one will blow away the competition with more keyboards, excellent hooks and killer production from studio whiz Aaron Sprinkle (Eisley, Anberlin, Kutless). “A Guide to Marine Life,” with a futuristic vibe, retro keys and a great melody, is not just a crazy song title, it is one of the best songs you’ll hear this year. Fans of Mute Math and Fall Out Boy will have a new favorite band and album with Captiva. This is falling with style.

I actually liked this album. Lyrics-wise, they've become much more complex. Their previous albums used to have scriptural references included, but now I have absolutely no idea of what they are singing about. This cd kind of has a spacey feel to it with more sound effects and stuff. It's not like all the other hard rock stuff they previously did. Um, maybe it wasn't the best music-wise, but it's still good. And yes, Jessy really should shave...

I don't know, the more I listen c/w their other albums, I think the sound is similar. There are more synthesizers on captiva, but overall the sound is quite the same. There are a lot of great songs on Captiva and I've had it for 6 months and still enjoy listening to it.

ok, I know that most people either love this album or hate it, but I'm in between. I think that Falling Up is good, but they're not the best. I really like their style of writing, but the music on Captiva is so unlike previous albums. Most of the songs seem to have a pretty dark setting, like Helicopters and Drago or the Dragons, I personally like it for a change from Hawk Nelson and Relient K, but I'll always prefer those bands over Falling Up. By the way- I don't think that Jesse's beard is to blame for anything.

Well, to be honest, I was not to happy with this CD. I wonder just what happened to these guys? They were such a good band and their previous albums were just awesome, but this one is not good at all.

Dudes, lets be hones with one another. Falling up has definitely taken a change for the worst. I am not going to argue my point. I just wanted to say that these dudes need to get their heads right.....That and Jessie needs to shave off that beard..lol...

Well, several others have said that they did not like ther old stuff but they liked Captiva. I like totally disagree. I have liked Falling Up since they came out. I was like on of the most die-hard fans those guys had. But now I don't like them anymore. Their new style is just about as Jessie's new beard!! :(

Ok, I am going to be honest. I agree with the others who said the album was not to good. I don't like it either. Crashings and Dawn Escapes were def better. This CD is like a continuation of Exit Lights, and I don't like it.

I did not like this cd. It was WAY too much synth for Falling Up. Their old stuff was way better.
