Great book to focus your world view each day!
Voices of the FaithfulâÂÂBook 2 is another year of powerful devotions from a series created by Kim Davis and Beth Moore. It is no secret to anyone that I will read, buy, enjoy just about anything that Beth Moore puts her name on. This devotional did not fail to live up to my expectations!
The book provides a one page devotional for each day of the year. The devotion includes a verse, story of courage from a missionary around the world, and a suggested prayer. It is a great way to focus your day on things outside your normal day to day view.
For me, the devotional spurs me to focus my vision outside my small town or 6X6 cubicle, to the people on the other side of the world. While God cares immensely about my individual situation, He also pushes us to have a broader world view like he does. He loves the whole world and calls us to as well!
I really liked how this devotional was set up. The verse engaged my mind in GodâÂÂs living truth. The story provide a tangible way for me to connect with real people with real needs from 1000s of miles away, and while the prayer provided specific items to pray about for the missionaries, it also gave a suggested prayer for how my heart needs to change to be more like GodâÂÂs. The book is set up to walk you through a year of devotions, but I donâÂÂt think it has to be a once and done. It is a devotional that could be used year after year, one thought that came to my mind was to mark each page with the year in which I prayed for the people. If I make it back through the book again, I will see that I have prayed for these needs more than once and see how my life has changed.
One of my struggles with this type of devotional is that I start to focus too much on the rigidity that I missed June 4, 5, 6, etc. and not on the discipline of just spending time in the Word and in prayer. That struggle, however, is not the bookâÂÂs fault; it has more to do with my own OCDâ¦

Inspirational
So often, living life is all about us and our needs. In this most recent book review for Booksneeze, I am challenged to remember those far from home, that deal with pain and persecution on a daily basis. I am thankful for Beth Moore and Kim Davis' hearts in wanting all of us, but especially women, to see through the eyes of other believers around the world and the ins and outs of their lives.
We say we are persecuted here in the west, but we really don't have a clue what this means. Not only does this devotional help redirect our focus off of ourselves, but as we all endure trials, it reminds us that there is someone always dealing with harder issues than ourselves. As I read through this book, I also learned much about the lives of other women who live in much harsher and more difficult days. Running water and washing clothes is a very easy task to perform....one I take for granted. As a mother, I am rearing my children in a very safe place. Not so for many of these women. Another thing to bring much thankfulness to my heart.
God is the One making the difference in these lives. The same God I worship. The same Faithful God who cares about the very number of hairs on my head.

Beth Moore Devotional
Being a Christian in the US, I find we often think we are being persecuted this way and that but this book helped me see that we are indeed blessed in this country.
This is a yearly devotional book that I highly recommend. You will never see missions the same way. You will never see your blessings in the same way.
Spend some of your quiet time remembering missions, Jesus' commission and that in the world "outside" of our own sphere are people without hope, who need Jesus.
One devotional that really touched me was the one about the cheapest sacrifice. How often do we go to the Lord to bring our sacrifice that costs us nothing.

Encouraging!
After receiving Voices of the Faithful-Part 2, I was really encouraged. The daily devotional is about missions and missionaries, it just reminds me of how fortunate that I am living in the United States and the the freedoms that I have.
I am almost ashamed of how I take these freedoms for granted. Its hard for me to believe what missionaries go thru each day telling others about Jesus. I love that this book has a different devotional for each day.
I was particularly touched by one of the devotions. It was about a missionary who was getting robbed and the man robbing her asked if she wanted him to kill her. Her response was that everything in this house belongs to God. That was an eye-opening moment for me. I know that all I have is GodâÂÂs as well. ItâÂÂs all His not mine-what a great reminder!
I really enjoyed reading the devotional because it has opened my eyes about missions.
