Deployed from South Korea to Iraq in 2004, Captain Chris Plekenpol experienced the adversity of war and from it draws comparisons to everyday life, the struggles we all face and how we can emerge victorious. From the inexplicable suffering of battle, Chris shares the immense triumph of a life in Christ in this collection of motivating devotional accounts.
You want the flare of your faith to burn as intensely as a fire on the battlefield. That means digging into Gods truth regardless of the chaos raging around you. These devotions are written by a man who had considered war something that someone else always did, and was then himself deployed to Iraq as a company commander. From the frontlines of the blackest days and in the face of inexplicable suffering, youll discover the heart of the question, "Why, God?" and its often unsettling answer. Because in war, as in contemporary America , reality involves struggle, trial, and triumph. Let God meet you in the midst of lifes nonsense to find the peace that is a crucial part of His impeccable plan.
War screams the same questions whispered in everyday life. The battlefield explodes with the same tenacity of emotions that wretch our souls. Smoke fills the air just as doubt clouds our minds.
Are you on the frontlines of war overseas? Or perhaps your battle is personal, deep within. These devotions, penned by Captain Chris Plekenpol while on the battlefield in Iraq, expose the depths of inexplicable suffering as well as the heights of incredible victory in God.
Through every adversity and in any circumstance, you will find a still voice reminding you of Gods sovereignty…in war and peace.

Story Behind the Book
"I began writing devotionals as both a preparation for seminary and as a ministry tool during my service in Korea . At first, I sent them only to a few people. Then, as I wrote more frequently, I received e-mails requesting my devotions. I continued writing during my deployment to Iraq , tackling such issues as life in combat as well as the triumph of God in the battle. My purpose in writing this book is to further Gods work in my life by ministering to others through my experience in the heart of the battle." Chris Plekenpol

Faith In the Fog of War is a one-of-a-kind devotional. Each chapter is about three pages long, geared for service men and veterans. It applies biblical principles to the daily lives of soldiers who are fighting the war on terror. Anyone who has a loved one overseas will find this to be helpful. At the end of each chapter, author Captain Chris Plekenpol gives biblical insight through his military experiences in Iraq.
I liked using this book as a morning devotional. It opened my eyes to what the men and women over in Iraq go through to protect freedom. Faith In The Fog Of War explains life as it goes on over in the war in Iraq, and questions that are raised by the soldiers who see pain day in and day out. The author reiterates throughout that being a Christian helped him to get through it all. It was interesting to read of men who werent Christians who opened the Bible and memorized Scripture looking for answers to help them through their day. There will always be questions. Faith In The Fog Of War provides a level of understanding. Josiah Wells, Christian Book Previews.com
