FAITH AND REASON is the final volume of a trilogy on philiosophical theology. The Coherence of Theism analysed the meaning of the claim that there is a God and argued that it was not demonstrably incoherent. THE EXISTENCE OF GOD examined arguments for and against the existence of God, and argued that overall the existence of God was more probable than not. It examines the relevance of such arguments to religious faith. It does it not in any way presuppose the results of earlier volumes. The book reaches a conclusion by analysing the purposes for practicing religion-the attainment of salvation for oneself and the rendering of due worship and obedience to God.
