In life and love, we could all stand a few nips and tucks . . .
Kaye Redmond, a "can do" kind of woman, has the magical touch when it comes to staging houses to attract buyers. Her ability to make things "perfect" has served her well in her career. If only it could transform her personal life as well. With a failed marriage, an angry teenage daughter, and an ex-mother-in-law who is no fairy godmother, Kaye's life is about as imperfect as it gets.
But sometimes blessings come in the strangest packages. Like her ex-mother-in-law landing on Kaye's doorstep after a botched facelift. Could caring for the impossible woman help Kaye get what she wants most: her husband back? Isn't that what God would want? And what her daughter needs? But no fairy princess ever faced such obstacles: an ex-husband's surgically enhanced mistress, hormonal teenagers, and--worst of all--an extra handsome prince! How's a woman supposed to find happily-ever-after with all that going on?
Acclaim for previous Leanna Ellis novels:
"Sharp prose and an appealing love story make this tale a winner."
~Library Journal (Once in a Blue Moon)
"One of my favorite new authors . . . such unique stories."
~Write by Faith (Ruby's Slippers)
"I was floored by the way this book made me feel . . . first-class entertainment."

Leanna Ellis, formerly known as Leanna Wilson, has sold more than one million books and been published in more than twenty countries. A recipient of the ReadersÕ Choice Award, she lives with her family in Texas
Ellis uses her strong first-person voice to draw readers into the mind of Kaye Redmond and keep them entertained while theyre there. We feel everything Kaye feels. When Kaye first speaks with her mother-in-law after her disastrous facelift, we know exactly what Kaye is thinking: Over the years, Ive joked with friends that my mother-in-law was Frankenstein. Now, she truly is. Hilarious thoughts like these are always running through Kayes mind. But Ellis also knows how to handle a serious situation. She writes about Kayes daughter and her little friend who has cancer in a way that is blunt and heartbreaking. The scene in the wig shop is unforgettably poignant.
Kayes main problem is that she is afraid of being alone. Her husband left her for Barbie a year and a half ago, and he took Kayes confidence with him. Shes doing great in some areas of lifeshe runs a very successful house staging company called Altered Imagesbut shes still hurting in most other areas. In fact, shes so messed up that she lets her evil ex-mother-in-law live with her for a month while the woman recovers from a botched facelift. Why? Because she wants to get her pathetic ex back. Lucky for her, she has friends who see this and try to show her that God has a better plan for her life.
Kaye is funny and loyal, and she has lots of good intentions; readers cant help but love her. Her ex-husband is snobbish, boring, and manipulative; readers cant help but distrust him. Her client Jack, however, is a strong Christian man who helps Kaye see how special she is. He shows her what it means to love someone genuinely. Kayes relationship with her ex-mother-in-law is equally important because through it Kaye realizes that she doesnt want to be loved for her outward appearance but rather for who she is on the inside (Proverbs 31:30).
Leanna Ellis may be new in the world of authors, but she knows how to write an entertaining, strong novel. I recommend her to all lovers of romantic Christian fiction. If you want a book with an original storyline, something fresh and funny, then Facelift is the book for you. Just dont read it in the library, because libraries frown on noisy laughter. Kaye Redmond has always had a "can do" attitude and was involved in things around her community , until her personal life took a nose dive when her husband Plastic Surgeon Cliff informed her he was leaving and that he had been cheating on her. For Kaye , it seems that her fairytale world is not as perfect as she would like it from her fairytale wedding destroyed , her Prince Charming a cheating jerk and her ex-mother in law who definitely fits the category as evil queen.
When a year later , Kaye gets a phone call from her mother-in-law asking for help , Kaye sees this as an opportunity to maybe win her husband back as she never stopped loving him. However, things are about to get a bit complicated as Kaye's new client Jack seems to be her perfect match . Will Kaye settle for second best and go back to Cliff's open arms or will she realise that her actual Prince Charming is just around the corner , holding a single white rose.
In a society where life and love is filled with nips , tucks, surgically-enhanced mistresses and monster-in-laws, Can Kaye find her opening for a happily-ever after ?

She wants reconciliation with her ex-husband who is only interested in pleasing himself; but God uses unexpected circumstances to teach her to trust Him.
The author uses today's real-life situations in the lives of her characters which makes the book very readable. I wish Leana Ellis had been more explicit in dealing with faith in Jesus Christ as the only way to having a personal relationship with God. Some of the characters seemed genuine in their faith, but others seemed to just use prayer in times of trouble.
Edna Tollison5 Stars Out Of 5surgery, love, funnyOctober 11, 2010Edna TollisonQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I really enjoy Leanna Ellis's books, I have read most of them. Leanna brought a whole new meaning to FACELIFT, It will really make you think, and yet you'll laugh while enjoying this wonderful book.
Leanna Ellis takes us on a wonderful journey with Kaye Redmond to make God's will happen in her life. Surely when the marriage vows were made God did not want them to be adhered. Kaye is convinced that even though her husband cheated on her, left her and divorced her that it is still her destiny to get him back from the "Barbie" he left her for.
Of course in the meantime she has started her own home staging business (so much like shows on TV) in order to support her and their teenage daughter. She is finding a strength within herself that she didn't know she had. In everything except where her ex-husband is concerned, when he calls about his mother needing a place to stay after her botched facelift how can she refuse even though she can't stand the bossy woman.
Kaye thought she was doing what God wanted her to do and she also thought "maybe" she would get her ex back by taking her ex-mother-in-law into her home, she had no idea what a mess she was getting into. While she is trying to update Jack's house to get it ready for sale, and contend with his dog "Cousin It" and her daughter shaving her head, and her ex and his mother, Kaye has a job on her hands.
You will find this book to be funny, romance, God and dealing with a teenager to the extreme. Leanna does not let us down with this book, I think it is one of her best yet.
Thanks to Julie with B&H Publishing for a copy of this book to review.

Tell us a little about yourself. I'm a wife, mom and writer. Therefore, I'm BUSY, as most moms are. I also have a wacky imagination. So I write. And I love it.
What was your motivation behind this project? So often these days, you see and read about so many folks having facelifts. I thought, what if facelift didn't turn out so well. And it does happen. And of course, to me, perfectionism goes hand in hand with a look at wanting to look perfect.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope readers will enjoy a good laugh and enjoy the characters and story. But I hope it will also show them that a facelift is possible for everyone of us. It's not a facelift utilizing scalpels, it's one of the heart. But it can have an outward effect.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? This was a hard book to write for me because I had to start on it right after my father passed away. But it was also good. Because even in grief we can find joy.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? God is my major source of inspiration as He provides me with so much insight into characters and situations. I couldn't write without Him. My husband and kids are also a huge source of strength and encouragement.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: God is good. Always.
