Product Description

Who am I?

My name is Christy Snow. I'm seventeen and I'm about to die. I'm buried in a coffin under tons of concrete. No one knows where I am. My heart sounds like a monster with clobber feet, running straight toward me.

I'm lying on my back, soaked with sweat from the hair on my head to the soles of my feet. My hands and feet won't stop shaking. Some will say that I'm not really here. Some will say I'm delusional. Some will say that I don't even exist. But who are they? I'm the one buried in a grave.

My name is Christy Snow. I'm seventeen. I'm about to die.

So who are you?

In a return to the kind of storytelling that made Black, Showdown and Three unforgettable, Ted Dekker drags that question into the light with this modern day parable about how we see ourselves. Humming with intensity and blindsided twists, Eyes Wide Open is raw adrenaline from the first page to the last pure escapism packed with inescapable truth. Not all is as it seems. Or is it? Strap yourself in for the ride of your life. Literally.

Eyes Wide Open is a thriller about Christy and Austin. These two teens find themselves stuck in a psych ward accidentally.

I thought this book had a Stephen King "flavor" to it. I was rather confused with the story in the beginning but by the end I understood everything. I thought it had a good message of being true to yourself.

I think my teenage nephews would like this book. I plan on to recommending it to them.

I recommend it to thriller fans including teenagers. 4 stars

I received this book from Worthy Publishing via NetGalley for my honest opinion which was given.

This review was written for Eyes Wide Open, Outlaw Chronicles Series #1.
Ted Dekker in his new book, "Eyes Wide Open" Book One in The Outlaw Chronicles published by Worthy Publishing takes us into the life of Christy Snow.

From the back cover: Who am I?

My name is Christy Snow.I'm seventeen and I'm about to die.

I'm buried in a coffin under tons of concrete. No one knows where I am. My heart sounds like a monster with clobber feet, running straight toward me. I'm lying on my back, soaked with sweat from the hair on my head to the soles of my feet. My hands and feet won't stop shaking.

My name is Christy Snow. I'm seventeen. I'm about to die.

    So who are you?

How can you define "fear"? Hand people a copy of "Eyes Wide Open". Ted Dekker explores every avenue of fear that he could, trapped in tight coffin-like places, trapped in a bunker with no cell phone, no one knows where you are and no means of escape. Then what happens when you wind up in a mental institution and everyone thinks you are a patient and after a while you begin to believe so yourself. "Eyes Wide Open" is a wild ride that will question sanity and self-esteem. Like Pilate asked, "what is truth?" you will be asking as well and will be glad when you find out.

    The Synopsis:

"I'm buried in a coffin under tons of concrete. No one knows where I am. My heart sounds like a monster with clobber feet, running straight toward me. I'm lying on my back, soaked with sweat from the hair on my head to the soles of my feet. My hands and feet won't stop shaking.

    My Review:

I know that this does not sound like a book that I would normally read, and normally, I would have never given it a second glance given the synopsis above. But, I read something that was about the book that made me want to read it, I never read the synopsis until I got the book in the mail.

Eyes Wide Open is a pretty interesting book. You definitely have to be focused when you are reading it, otherwise you will miss something. The storyline was mind-boggling, in a good way. I would think I knew what was going on, but Dekker always made sure you were just a clueless of what was happening as the characters were.

The characters were so realistic. They had their weaknesses, but yet had their strengths. They lost hope, then found it. They were hostage, then found freedom. It was an amazing roller coaster of adrenaline and wonder as the scenes unfolded and Christy and Austin found out who they really were.

There were also good virtues in Eyes Wide Open, like not being obsessed with outer beauty, not relying on your own understanding instead of believing what God tells you (whether you understand it or not), and to have faith and hope in times of trial.

Eyes Wide Open was a fantastic read and I encourage you to read it as well.

"I received this book from Worthy Publishing for the purpose of this review. All comments and opinions are my own."

    My review:

If I thought I would enjoy this book, I was wrong. I loved it. I had to put it down about a million times, telling my family I couldn't figure out if they were crazy, if I was crazy. Such a thrilling book, and yet you can't help but see the meaning behind it. Dekker does an excellent job. I haven't ever read anything by him, but I was so surprised by the twists and turns in this book I quickly came to see why so many people love his books.

I couldn't tell one way or the other if they were really crazy and to me that is an excellent book! The way he wove Christ in, and what is perception vs reality was amazing. What we have the power to change. This book will stay with you for a LONG time. Highly recommended!

I was provided a copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

When Ted Dekker tells a story, the results can warp your mind. Only Dekker can tell a self-discovery story with a twist. From the very beginning, I was fully engaged with Christy Snow's story. Snow is trapped. In a coffin. But is it real? What is reality? Who is she? Who am I? Who are you? Really. The question of who we are is on our minds more often that not. We think we know the answer, but for some the truth is elusive. We can't be who we are meant to be until we come to terms with who we are and who we belong to.

In "Eyes Wide Open", Dekker takes you on a journey of self-discovery that will leave you with your mouth open in awe. You will enjoy the twists and turns that makes Dekker a best-selling author. One minute your mind is safe. The next minute you are tripping all over your thoughts. No character is safe--not even the reader. Beginning as a series of four short stories in e-book form, "Eyes Wide Open" can now be purchased as one book in e-book or paperback format.
