on prayer than you would normally expect. As others have said, there has been so many books written on prayer that one tends to pass them over because they all seem to reference the same basic ideas and scripture on this subject. But in this little book I think the authors whole idea is to move the average Christian out of their complacent prayer life and into having an adventure with God.

The author interjects stories about his life as a missionary bible translator in Africa and how his reliance on God through dedicated prayer saw the bible translated into several different dialects, including a tribe of people that were on not on any mission data base!

But the idea that stuck out most for me was his emphasis on praying with others. So many times we want to pray by ourselves, because it is much easier to fit into our schedule or it takes to much effort to meet with others to pray. I think that that is why Jesus taught both way to pray and they both have equal value. Praying with others bring a sense of community, but there are time we all just need to be alone with God.

This is not a regular size book, its the size of a gift book with only 110 pages of actual text. I think it will benefit anyone who takes the time to read this book.

For the past few years I have struggled with prayer and the thought that since God is soverign why pray. I have asked the Lord to help me understand prayer. Gregg's honest, straight-forward explanation of how God worked in his prayer life has completely changed mine. Thank you Lord for answered prayer through this book. Extreme prayers are filling my prayer time and I'm renewed and feel the joy of my salvation. Bless you Lord Jesus!!

Okay, I'll admit it, when this book came up for review my first instinct was to pass on it. My reason was legitimate. Prayer, both as a topic and as a practice, has been written on so much that many people are jaded on the subject. But, with a bit of Spiritual pushing and shoving [by His Holy Spirit of course!], I committed to review Extreme Prayer, and what a blessing it's been for me.

Pruett has managed to introduce the same Scripture(s) on prayer that we'll all had shoved down our throats many times in an entirely new way. He doesn't approach either the concept of prayer as a whole or the practise of praying as individuals as a requirement or a duty. By wrapping his life experiences in ministry around solid Biblical teaching on the subject of prayer, the author makes it possible for readers to come away from this one hundred and fourteen page book looking forward to the adventure of a life of prayer with the Lord. By tying different episodes of his, his families, and his ministry partners' live to the absolutes of Biblical prayer, this author successfully introduces prayer to readers in what I believe to be God's intent. Scripture doesn't support that prayer should be a dreaded, or a "to be avoided at all cost(s)" part of the Believer's lives. Prayer is something intended to be a part of Christians' lives that is looked forward to, depended on, and sought after.

The writing of Extreme Prayer is obviously the result of both the inspiration of the Lord's Holy Spirit, and a life lived focused on prayer.

    Well done, Greg Pruett!

The book, Extreme Prayer, was provided to myself by Tyndale Momentum in consideration of a review of the book. My review wasn't influenced by Tyndale Momentum or any other person or agency.

Released in March of 2014, Greg Pruett's 144-page how-to-get the most out of your prayers is a must have. Written in simple, laymen terms, Pruett takes the reader through very specific steps on how to maximize the prayer promises of Jesus. Using analogies related to his successful ministry, Pioneer Bible Translators and how it turned a corner toward success when the ministry partners began changing their prayer requests.

Compared to other books on this topic, Pruett's book is short, but oh, so very strong in outlining much needed reminders of Biblical teachings, principles, that we sometimes forget. The most powerful of this teaching is the affirmation that God just wants us to settle in and have conversations with Him. Pruett shares with us tips on how to have these talks and how to put into practice what we have all known since day one.

    Prayer does work.
