I love this Evan Moor Scienceworks series. I use them as the backbone of my unit studies. They provide worksheets to reinforce concepts with my children that are perfectly age appropriate. I never do the mini-books with them because it is too much busy work, but most of the worksheets are great. They also have experiment logs which make keeping track of our hands on work easy--the experiments and activities listed in this book are typically wonderful, and simple to do. The daily "What I Learned" log is perfect for our narrations. I like to use living books for science, and there are good recommendations in the teacher material. We usually do all our learning out of books such as the Read and Find Out Science books and other selections, and then reinforce the concepts with these worksheets and activities. At the end of the unit we have a notebook full of wonderful material to document our learning process.
