Exploring Creation with Botany, Textbook 4.9 5 53 53

Great Science Book! Used for 5th and 6th graders this year. Even though we skipped the handwriting and crossword sections, I would recommend the notebook for a time saver in graphs and drawings. We chose to do most of our curriculum in the summer and spring since it's too cold to find flowers and plant seeds in the winter here. This is a great book to read before "the talk" as it tactfully teaches how the female and male parts of the flower are used to reproduce and make a seed. We were easily able to supplement with the computer and jump on youtube and watch the carnivorous plants in action right after we learned about them. We saw a small mouse getting eaten by a pitcher plant (never knew such a plant existed). I really liked the writing style of this book. Never boring. Online now to research another in the series for 6th and 7th grade! April 6, 2013

Oh no! This is the first year we've done Apologia science! I have an 8th grader and a 5th grader and all those years I never looked at it! I wish I could go back and start out with the Exploring Creation series. I bought one of the books at a used book store and after looking it over, called CBD and ordered all the rest. My 10 yr old son chose to start with botany and we've been having a great time with it. We built a light hut (easy) to start seeds, learned to harden them off and now have a little raised garden bed in the only sunny spot in our yard. My son is fascinated with botany and now I am too! My 8th grade daughter also uses this and the other Apologia books to help with reports in Classical Conversations. I love all my curriculum to be Christ centered and this certainly doesn't disappoint. Some of the activities can be done with the whole family on a weekend. We're so smart about botany now! What a GREAT way to learn science! My child is LOVING science this year! I love that we are focusing on one aspect instead of just spending 3-4 weeks on botany. The experiments/projects are very easy to do in the homeschool setting. September 30, 2012
