In this study of Physical Science, you'll be introduced to the stunning world you live in, as well as the universe around it. From the composition of air to icebergs to astrophysics, you will recieve thorough lessons in each element of the physical world. Sixteen modules are included, that are designed to be completed in a total of 32 weeks time, though the course can be adjusted to your own needs. "On your own" questions throughout the text are designed to help cement concepts, while "Study Guide" questions prepare for tests. All information that must be memorized is centered and in bold text, and all definitions and important terms are also bolded. Experiments using only household equipment, graphics, illustrations, charts and other visual representation of various concepts are also included for maximum clarity.
This second edition is newly updated, with more color illustrations and higher-quality drawings. Fuller responses to student questions; easy-to-perform (and more engaging!) experiments; in-text graphics for online resources; additional material for advanced learners; and an extra test booklet (sold separately) are also new improvements. Topics include the atmosphere; hydrosphere; weather; structure of Earth; environmentalism; physics of motion; Newton's laws; gravity; and astrophysics. 510 pages, hardcover. Due to these changes, editions should not be mixed.
For 8th grade students.

I have been very impressed with this book. My daughters is doing both the Physical and General science at the same time and because of the ease in understanding them, she is doing really well.

This is a really good text book for home schoolers and nothing is left out. I have used it before and feel confident that my child is getting a comprehensive view of science from a believers point of view

My 7th & 8th grade children are using this high school level program. We're learning it slowly due to the amount of information and clear details. My children are incorporating their arithmetic and algebra skills. We love the experiments. Their note booking skills are also improving. This is an exciting and well balanced science program.

This is the first year I am using this publisher for Science. So far, I am very pleased as a teacher. More importantly my son loves it! Last year the biggest complaint was science was boring. This author condenses concepts to a level that is more easily understood, particularly for a student that finds reading a chore. There are many experiments that literally use common objects, which is a plus for keeping the budget on track. The experiments help to reinforce the concepts in an interesting way. I am finding this year that my son is saying, "Can we do science first?"

Our 8th grader is just about to finish this text and it has been an exciting year. Although it has been a tough course, our student has learned to develop good study skills during this course. The concepts are taught thoroughly and with enough depth to prepare a student for high school. Dr. Wile writes to the student and the course is free of "politically correct" issues. Dr. Wile just tells it like it is. If you genuinely want your student to LEARN science, this is the book for you. Dr. Wile is very encouraging as states that even if your student is earning a C, it's okay because it is a college prep course. By the way, the labs are great and really do use at home ingredients. We all enjoyed our student's lab days.

In reviewing this curriculum in preparation to teaching the subject, I am pleasantly surprised at the ease in reading and comprehending the subject presented. The author does a terrific job of explaining and giving examples so that the student has every opportunity to learn and understand. This excites me and I am learning as I prepare.
