My son is only 1 module into this text (there are 16 total), but so far, it's just fine. It gives him places to write & record everything that the hardcover text requires, such as experiments. Also, I like that there is a study guide at the end of each module AND a summary -- both of which can be used to study for the test. (The answers to both are in the text/solutions book.) I'm glad we bought this as a companion text to the hardcover and will put it to use, for certain.
I ordered this notebook to make it easier for my son to work independently and have all of his written work, including the lab write-ups, all in one place. I love that it includes an easy to follow schedule with each day's assignment so that he can check them off as he goes through the curriculum. Unless I've missed something, the only thing it doesn't include are the test pages!
If you have jr. or senior high students, you are probably one busy parent! No time to create this one on your own, and you'll need this to get the most out of your class! This will have your child defining words, filling out questions, etc. Plus there are separate sections for their lessons reviews (for tests) and lab-write ups. (And each section has a different color margin so that you can find them very easily in this fat notebook (Great idea!). VERY handy to have these sections! In the beginning of the notebook is a section of lesson plans. (Telling the student exactly what to read each day and what pages to do in the notebook.) They are labeled by weeks and have 5 days in each, but they also have little squares in the corners so the student can check off the completed assignments so not to get confused if they have off a day and their "Day 5" is actually on a Monday instead of Friday. The elementary notebooks for Apologia never seemed to work for us, but this one is becoming a HUGE time saver! I'd definitely buy this one again!
