Exploring Creation with General Science, 2nd Edition, MP3 Audio CD
Too fast for us
I bought this audio CD to go along with our general science studies because my son is a struggling reader. Although he has excellent word attack skills, he still struggles in the area of fluency and comprehension. I was hoping that he could listen to the CD and read along in his text. Unfortunately for us the narrator read too fast for him to really use it for these purposes. She does an excellent job of narrating the text so far as pronunciation and reading fluency is concerned. It just seemed that she rarely paused to even take a breath!

An Affordable Special Touch
Worth the Price: We could do without this MP3-CD, but we're so glad to have it! My daughter loves listening to the audio reading from Apologia's General Science textbook. It mentally boosts her in completing reading assignments.
It helps my 12 year old daughter, who is not science oriented, in four ways:
1. To remain focused
2. To reinforce correct pronunciation
3. To provide variety amongst other independent reading
4. To assist with review - with repetitive listening
Ease of Use: Thumbs up from us! Modules & lessons are on tracks.
Compatibility (For anyone who happens to be non-tech like myself.): Please take note about its use with a MP3 compatible player. Currently we use it on a DVD player that is MP3 compatible, but plan to soon get a MP3 compatible CD player for easy portability. Of course it could be used as well on computer as stated in the item description.

My 7th grader loves science but struggles with reading speed and comprehension (and has Asperger's). This is the best thing since sliced bread for us because he can continue on at grade level without the burden of reading. Plus, younger siblings can join in with the listening! We are all learning together, and we love it!

I really like the CD idea. My son on the other hand thought it was boring so he's decided to read it himself. The reason I got the CD was I wanted my son to get specific word pronunciation. I also got the CD-Rom and that also has pronunciation so that is what he is using. I'm sure my other children will use the actual CD that you listen to.
