Apologia Educational Ministries, Inc. presents the second edition of its Exploring Creation With Biology course. The first edition has been used by thousands of students in all 50 states and 13 other countries. Now, this award-winning biology course is even better!
This course is designed to be the student's first high school science course. Exploring Creation With Biology is a college-prep biology course that provides a detailed introduction to the methods and concepts of general biology. Heavily emphasizing the vocabulary of biology, it provides the student with a strong background in the scientific method, the five-kingdom classification scheme, microscopy, biochemistry, cellular biology, molecular and Mendelian genetics, evolution, dissection, and ecosystems. It also provides a complete survey of the five kingdoms in Creation. Please note that this course does not contain a discussion of human anatomy and physiology. Most college biology professors do not consider it to be a part of a solid, college-prep biology course. Students who take and understand this course will be very well-prepared for a tough university biology course.
The student text contains all student material, on-your-own questions and solutions, laboratory exercises, and chapter study guides. Color illustrations and diagrams.
For 9th Grade students.

This is a complete curriculum for the self-schooled. My son enjoys science and has excelled using this curriculum. The unit reviews are key in remembering key points of the material. I would recommend this for self-motivated students and parents who are not "science" people. We will continue to use Apologia for science as my son progresses through science in high school.

My older children seemed to like the text. I think the book is very expensive.

As a student at a Christian school, I thought "Finally, a Christian biology book." But after a semester, I realized that this book has several spelling errors and at times seems cheaply made. 2.5 stars for being a Christian book with decent info.

Apologia has been our favorite science curriculum. It's easy to read format, colorful pictures and interesting, easy experiments are wonderful. We have used Physical Science and now Biology and have not been disappointed with either.

This is a course that can be taught by a parent who doesn't have a strong science background. So many texts require you to have a lot of previous expertise, but this one explains every single concept in a clear, easy-to-grasp way. The 3 levels of lab work allow you to choose how advanced you'd like your lab work to be, and the microscope and slide set that you can purchase separately is tailored to the exact requirements of the text's labs. What a time saver! The only drawback is that there is no anatomy which most high school texts cover.
