This book focuses on engaging the body, mind, heart and will in a total worship experience. Regardless of our worship heritage, I am confident this title will in some way broaden our horizons when it comes to worship. The points made here by Rognlien don't really conform to any particular worship tradition. Instead, his comments transcend worship traditions, drawing upon the best of several and offering fresh new insights as well. This title would definitely be helpful to a minister of worship or a worship leader.

Tell us a little about yourself.  I have the honor of being the husband of Pam, the joy of my life, and father of Bobby and Luke, the crown of my life. I am a full-time pastor of a wonderful church that is passionate about experiencing God and giving themselves back more fully to him. I lve in southern California near the beach and I love to enjoy God's creation by surfing, paddling, sailing, biking, hiking and backpacking. I also love hanging out with my friends, traveling, cooking, eating, reading, playing tennis, and going to the movies.

What was your motivation behind this project?  I hate to see people going through the motions in church and it breaks my heart that so many people are going through life without the joy and purpose of knowing Christ. I believe that authentic biblical worship is the most transforming experience there is and that the church has no higher calling than leading people into these kinds of encounters. I am motivated by a passion and calling from God to help churches provide more complete experiences of God so that believers and unbelievers alike will give themselves more completely to the God they worship.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  It is my passion to see churches learn how to lead people into more complete and therefore more life-changing encounters with God. I hope that pastors will read my book and rekindle a vision for worship that encompasses all aspects of human experience. I hope that worship leaders will be encouraged to move outside of whatever box has kept them from helping people give themselves more completely to God. I hope that all worshipers who read this book will be filled with a hunger for a more complete experience of God and will find the tools to worship God with all that they are, heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  The biblical paradigm of Experiential Worship first came into focus for me while I was reading Richard Foster's wonderful book, Streams of Living Water. In that book he describes a more complete kind of Christianinty that brings together all the disparate traditions of the Christian faith into one powerful movement of the Spirit. I suddenly realized this is what we need in our worship today and that Jesus gave us the instructions for this kind of worship in his Great Commandment from Mark 12:30: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all you soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength." I have also been deeply influenced by Sally Morgenthalter's understanding of the evangelistic purpose of authentic worship, Brian McLaren's glimpse of "the Church on the other side," Leonard Sweet's insight into the EPIC characteristics of the emerging postmodern culture, Matt Redman's heart for unquenchable, undignified worship, and Louie Giglio's call to focus worship on an infinite God and not our finite selves.
