This is a short story, perfect for Christmastime reading or anytime you want an inspirational, uplifting story of family, faith and holidays. Those readers familiar with the Christiansen family and the other stories of their lives by this author will no doubt be thrilled with reading about old friends and getting an update. I had not read any of the previous books in this series, but had no trouble following along and getting to know the characters. It was a delightful story reminding me that Christmas can be a very stressful holiday for many people. I found humor in the depiction of how different men and women look at life and the gentle reminder that even great marriages need a little shaking up at times. It was a very realistic portrayal of a middle aged couple beginning to make the adjustment to an empty nest and how both partners must make adjustments. The faith of the family sees them through difficult times, but again, is portrayed realistically with doubts and missteps that we all experience. I loved this story and must now go back to read the entire series so I dont have to say goodbye to this loving family quite yet!

I received this book from BookFun.org in exchange for my honest review.

Evergreen is the first book in the Christiansen family series that I have read. I have really enjoyed other books by Warren and wanted to see what the family was all about. I really ended up having fun getting to know John and Ingrid, and learned a little about their family along the way. I found it interesting that this book was about a couple that was already married. We all dream of having our romance lives rekindled and I found it sweet that John wanted so much to make Ingrid happy. Warren did a great job keeping me interested throughout the story. I would really enjoy getting to know them more, and cant wait to hear more about Romeo, Ingrids nephew. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a little bit of romance. I received a copy of this book from Tyndale and TBCN in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.

This was a story that takes place at Christmas time. I could really relate to John and Ingrid as my children have moved on to their own homes and not needing mom and dad quite so much. I could feel the struggle each was going through and each needing different outlets to cope. I found Evergreen to be a story that dealt with life, feeling alone , frustration and how leaning on your faith and God can bring you together through thick and thin and restore relationships. A wonderful short story to read during the Christmas season.

I received a copy of this book, a nice hard back book with a lovely cover, from the publisher, through The Book Club Network (bookfun.org) in exchange for my honest review.

Northern Minnesota is the setting and the holidays are approaching. Since they are recent empty nesters John Christiansen sees it as the perfect opportunity to take his wife to Europe. Unfortunately Ingrid doesn't agree with that idea. To top it off, the family dog needs surgery amounting to an all-expense paid trip to Europe! Ingrid gets involved in church Christmas plans, and one thing leads to another.

This is the first book I've read from this series. I think it stands alone, but I would love to have had the opportunity to read the rest of the series first in order to understand the background of the Christiansen family. I am very impressed with the author's creativity and realistic portrayal of the characters in this story. A strong message of faith and family is interwoven throughout a variety of incidents that occur in this moving account of sensitive moments in the lives of the Christiansens. I highly recommend this very poignant novella, and look forward to reading more of Susan May Warren's books in the future!

Evergreen**** by Susan May Warrenfrom TBCN

Evergreen is a short story about John and Ingrid Christiansen. John and Ingrid are facing empty nest at Christmas time. John has planned a surprise for Ingrid that he hopes will bring the sparkle back into their marriage. Things do not go as he planned. Ingrid agrees to head up the upcoming Christmas pageant which will mean the surprise will have to be postponed. Added to that, unexpected situations pop up, Ingrid's nephew Romeo is placed in their custodial care over Christmas holiday. But this may be a good thing, as they will have to face their problems together. John learns that Ingrid heartache goes much deeper than their grown children leaving home. Will he be able to fix the problems or will he and Ingrid work together to overcome the grief and heartaches they are facing?

This is a cute short story dealing with marriage relationships, grief, forgiveness, love and so much more with a bit of humor thrown in.
