Other key resources include a system of 80,000 cross references and a concordance (which together facilitate easy location of important words, passages, and biblical themes). I have used the ESV version for some time, but this time I wanted the study helps: the maps, the charts, the background items at the bottom of the page. Yes, I have deeper helps on the computer, but wanted something portable I could have away from the computer, and I like what I've found. And, its nice to have it in real leather.

This is a great study bible, bought two, one for my son, and one for me. The only problem for me is the small print, will probably get a large print when they come out..

This was a gift and has been appreciated. The online access to further study information looks exciting! The size of the bible itself was bigger than I expected. I guess I didn't research that piece as thoroughly as I should have.

Just got my new ESV Bible.... All I can say is that at first glance it is great.
Pros:
- The layout makes it easy to read.
- It has a sewn binding rather than a glued binding (meaning it will last forever)
- The paper is good paper with no bleed thru.
- The leather cover is flexible and feels good in your hand – not too limp and not too stiff.
- Good translation! Easy to understand and true to the original languages. Where words and phrases can have various meaning this is clearly explained in layman terms. I have used the NASB for years because of its accuracy and the NIV for its ease of reading. In the ESV I find the best of both worlds.
- Lots of Notes: These I am reviewing as I study through the Bible. Thus far I have read the book of Romans and the first few chapters of Genesis. I am impressed with their quality. These notes will never replace a good exegetical commentary; however, they are a good starting point for background information.
- Reading Plan: In the back of the Bible you find a reading plan that allows you to read your Bible through in one year
- Maps are easy to read and current. I especially like the fact that they are included in the context of the passage
- The charts and lists outline a lot of information.
- Lots of additional information like: The Historical background of the Old Testament. History of how we got our bible, etc.
Cons:
- The print is smaller than I expected. (It is 9.5 pt and I am used to 11 pt.)
- The margins are too small for good note taking, however, I should be able to underline and highlight just fine. (I have been spoiled with the wide margins in my NIV Inductive Study Bible. I will probably have to get a journal to keep my notes in...
Conclusion:
All in all it looks like I am going to enjoy this Bible. It has already replaced my NIV Inductive Study Bible which I have used for years.

This Bible is wonderful. It is HUGE, but contains so much information. There are footnotes of facts and interpretations for nearly every single verse, and the maps, charts, and pictures included are so helpful. In addition, the back of the Bible has a concordance, a daily reading plan, and even articles about how to read the Bible, what the Bible says about salvation, how books were chosen to be canonized, and so many others! It has been amazing to study the Bible this way and really feel as though God is speaking to me through everything in it, and knowing how to better interpret the verses. I love it!

I have a bible library of 24 bibles and versions from 1909 to current. The ESV Study bible is THE BEST bible I have ever found. The scriptural accuracy is beyond compare. The closest thing to original scripture without buying a Hebrew Tanakh. This is my 3rd purchase of one, as I keep giving them away. Unfortunately, its been over 2 wks since I ordered it, it was incorrectly addressed, and is taking forever to get someone to find the returned package and re-ship it to me.

Really like all the background information given. Like the single column scripture also, reads alot easier than dual columns.
Print is rather small though for the non-scripture information. Really like it so far!
