I wanted to love this Bible for my 6 year old. But I think for a young reader, the font is too small. Also, there are so many inserts that it is difficult to find the chapter and verse you are looking for. The layout is a little confusing.
My 10 year old loves this Bible. She has the Children's Zondervan Bible which she uses in the Christian School she attends, but has to leave that one at school, so I bought her this one for home and Church. She wanted to take it to school to use, but the school requires the Zondervan one.
I purchased several of these for Christmas presents for children. They are nicely laid out. A full text Bible, but also there are pages where there is an illustrated Bible story from the passage that a younger child can relate to. The general layout of the Bible pages worked very well with applying tabs to the pages.
Although this book was intended for youth, I bought it for an adult co-worker who found traditional bibles to be "boring". He told me he wish bibles had illustrations with a "memo" section and was easy to read. I suprised him with this and the presentation of the cover alone made him happy. Watching him skim through the pages in exitement touches my heart. Another co-worker noticed his exitement and asked me to order one for her as well! Now they both reading the word.
I guess I would like a bible that is not full of white people. My ministry has been blessed with a very mixed set f people, many Sudanese. The pictures given as samples show a bunch of white faces. I do not want to be hipper critical but God made many skin tones and eve Jesus us a pasty white guy as I am since I live in Alaska. The over all bible looks great but this ruins it for me. Hope those who have it love it.
