This is an OUTSTANDING Bible! The even better news is, this has been "re-issued" with slightly better paper, more opaque. Thank you Crossway for responding to people's requests! I have owned this Bible for over 2 years now, and I still keep it in the box, and for good reason--It still has that great, calfskin leather smell, just like the day I bought it! Highly recommended.

By far the best bible on the market - oozes quality. Exquisite leather binding, beautiful page lay out, and a superb translation of the scriptures. Single column bibles are the way forward. You won't regret buying this product.

This is an absolutely beautiful edition of this wonderful translation! The single column format is great for Preaching and the side column reference is handy for quick scripture reference.

Great Bible! The print is great, the margins are perfect for notes, the leather is perfect. It is a little thicker than I would have liked, but great!

Wow! I am delighted with my new ESV Bible. The premium calfskin is soft and supple; I have not encountered any of the binding issues mentioned with the other ESV covers. The type is just large enough (I'm moving from a large-print NIV.) The pages are a bit thin, but no thinner I think than my other Bibles. I believe the large amount of unprinted space on the page is making the print from the other side more apparent than in other Bibles. My highlighters (I only use yellow that I get from another vendor) do not bleed through. I have switched to pencil for notetaking based on other reviews and am surprisingly satisfied with that choice. Heavier pages or larger print would no doubt result in a Bible that is a bit larger and therefore unwieldy. This one is a comfortable size (although still bigger than my old large print NIV.) If you have researched translations, you know this is outstanding. Finally a translation I can memorize verses from with confidence! When I was transferring my notes, I found I could skip many notes because I had written in my old translation the word the ESV actually used. Sweet. The best part for me is the verse-by-verse format. It is the greatest. I can find verses so quickly and there are large amounts of space for notes both in the margins and in between verses. My NIV notes had arrows shooting all over the pages (and sometimes across the binding.) Now my notes are right next to the text they're about. I also appreciate the references in the center column. They are placed closer to the actual verse and so much quicker to find. Christianbook also had the best price and delivery (which I did not expedite) was very quick. Yay!

This bible is so soft,it is very well made. I don't regret the purchace at all. My only hold back in buying it was what I read on other reviews About the paper being thin and the words of christ not being in red.I thing the paper is just fine,I use Accent Dry Pencils for highlighting.Probley use a pencil for note taking,as for the word of christ not being in red it just what you get used to. I really like the ESV translation,it alot easier to read.This translation is the one to get.

This is by far the most beautiful Bible Crossway has ever published. The leather is so soft it feels like a leather jacket. I love the new verse by verse format. I just cannot put this Bible down once I start reading it. The ESV is just perfect it is so accurate. Way to go Crossway!

Very, very well done. Superior leather, binding, and it has the updated ESV text (2007). I was hesitant to buy this Bible because of the reviews concerning the thin paper. Now that I have it, I love it, and the paper is not too thin (in my opinion). I can use a highlighter (Sharpe Accent Liquid Highlighter) with very little bleed through. I have had problems with bleed through with other highlighters in other Bibles, but not with the Sharpe. I love the single column, verse by verse format, and most of all, the cross references are on the binding side so I have plenty of room for my notes. I wouldn't suggest using anything other than a pencil for notes to be on the safe side though since ink has a tendency to "soak in" over time and bleed through. SUPER - SUPER job Crossway! Excellent updated ESV translation, excellent binding, superior leather, excellent layout.... excellent!!! Soli Deo Gloria!
