Online code not included, but not needed?

I purchased the chocolate/blue ivy design. I struggled over buying the personal or full size version and decided to get the personal size for ease of portability and knowing I had access to all the articles of the full size version online. The Bible itself met all my expectations. I could not find any way to access it online, though. I went to Crossway's site and found I needed a code. I contacted CBD and they referred me to Crossway who very kindly set up my online version. In comparing it with my Bible, I couldn't find anything online that wasn't in my actual Bible. I looked up the articles found in the full size version and found all of them in my personal sized version. Perhaps this is why the online access codes were not included?

No matter what, I am very pleased with this purchase. Just realize it may take a little more work to get the online version if your Bible doesn't include a code.

This study Bible is worthy of a 5 Star rating. Hands down ESV Study Bible is the best tool out there for the Christian of today. As a student of Theology the notes held within this particular Bible are suburb. They can be trusted as accurate, but do not lean on totally what man says lean on the Word. The online content that comes with these Bibles has everything found within the printed version available online. Awesome tool to reference on the go or at home. It should be noted this is a great tool to have at ones fingertips when putting together small group Bible studies. The print is somewhat small so if your eye sight is not so great I would recommend you getting a larger print. The personal size is great for on the go Christians. Small and fits well into your pack. The color of this in particular Bible is great. Very masculine in tone and for me being a man I like this aspect. Do not pass up this purchase its a great buy and you get a lot for the little you will spend. As always have fun diving into Gods Word with your new Bible!

I bought this for my 18 year old son. He loves all the extra historical information. It is a great size for him to carry and use.

To sum up how good this bible is - I simply cannot put it down, but return to it again and again!

So far I have read Daniel, Romans, John, and Genisis to Leviticus through with the bible study notes in the lower half of the pages. So much is made clear that I am reading things and making sense of them like never before in my 20 years of being a Christian! (I know it is ultimately the Holy Spirit that enlightens, and I feel that through reading His word in this format that this is happening.)

Prophecy in Daniel becomes clear, law and grace in Romans are explained vividly, John is magestic in ways I've never seen before, and I am throughly enjoying Leviticus at the moment having been lead through the tabernacle with pictures and charts in the later part of Exodus.

I cannot recommend this study bible enough! As an object, it is well bound but opens flat at any page. Its cover is flexible but hard wearing - the stitching effect I find pleasing.

I own a regular size hardback ESV study bible which I keep at my parents house, in which the study notes are bigger and cleaer. But the personal size is managable for my eyes.

Because I knew that this would be a book I would treasure, I also got my name engraved on it for a few pounds extra - well worth it.

I just received the ESV Study Bible (Personal Size) and have had some time to look it over. The reason that I purchased this Bible is the very reason many of you will want to do the same thing: because the ESV study notes are the best available. This study Bible is a veritable seminary in a box. Nevertheless, the regular-size ESV Study Bible is one of the larger, heavier and bulkier Bibles on the market, and Crossway did us a favor by reducing the sheer size and weight of this remarkable volume.

This smaller version being reviewed here has almost all of the same features as the full-size model. First of all, what it has: 20,000 of the best study notes from some of the most respected evangelical scholars alive today. This is not an understatement. Grudem, Packer, Collins et. al. have assured that this study Bible has reliably accurate study information to aid your personal study or sermon/lesson preparation. Secondly, this study Bible has the best color maps included in any study Bible around today (trust me, I practically own them all).

On the other hand, there are a few things this smaller Bible does NOT have, namely the 200+ pages of additional theological articles in the back of the regular ESVSB. While excellent, these articles certainly caused the full-size version to be overloaded and weighty. Perhaps the publishers realized they were doing almost too much! In the personal size, these articles are still given to the buyer, but free through their website.

As a pastor, this version is greatly appreciated as it is much more ergonomic for my preaching ministry--my arm won't go numb as I preach trying to hold up the full-size any more!

One other downfall: as a consequence to reducing the page size, the font is rather tiny; far-sighted readers should steer in another direction. For me, the fact that the pagination and layout are exactly the same as the full-size version was a plus, and the small font is not bothersome to me at all.

Overall, the personal size version of the unequaled ESVSB will likely not disappoint. As a pastor, I pray that my congregants would purchase this volume and have encouraged them to do so.
