Nice, readable Bible. I like the two columns without the references in the center. The pages are a hair thin for my tastes but of good quality. I like that it is black letter and not red letter. (Last I knew, the whole Bible is the Word of God.) I would have preferred the Bible in burgundy but they don't make the black letter edition in burgundy. The leather is very nice, but again, I would have preferred it to be a hair thicker. I like the presentation box also. Make it in burgundy and a hair thicker materials and it would be an outstanding Bible to use for a lifetime.

The only problem I have with this Bible is the paper. It is to thin. You can clearly see the words on the next page and even the following one. It makes it very hard to read because the words look jumbled up. Other then that it is a beautiful Bible. It is really a shame that Crossway didn't use a thicker paper. I unfortunatly am not going to be using this Bible because I have a very hard time reading it. If you think this is some old person writing this review with bad eyesight think again. I am 26. So if you order this Bible please weigh these words carefully. Don't be like me only to order this Bible then not use it.

This Bible was a very good buy because as a warrior in Christ I want a sword I am confident in mounting up...and this is that Bible for me.
First of all, I can be confident in the Bible translation itself. The English Standard Version (ESV) is one of the best—if not the best—translations out there. It is based upon an “essentially literal” translation philosophy which is “ideally suited for in-depth study of the Bible.” It is “equally suited for public reading and preaching, for private reading and reflection, for both academic and devotional study, and for Scripture memorization.” The ESV reads beautifully.
Secondly, I am confident in treading the battlefield with this Bible because it has a beautiful binding, small size, and good readability. The binding of this Bible stays open to any page by itself. Some Bibles of lesser quality will not keep the page you are reading if you set your Bible down—you have to manually keep the book open. Also when you close this Bible, the cover remains flat and doesn’t “stick up” as with bonded leather. It looks just as it did when you began with it.
This Bible wears great. I am pretty rough on my sword—I carry it without a case and bring it everywhere, in virtually every condition. I read my Bible like it is candy and often flip to various sections of the Bible, back and forth, as I study it. It takes all of this use very well. The worn pages of my Bible are a beautiful thing to me. It looks so eternal, so endearing to see the lightly scratched leather and the puffed, used, worn pages filling their binding.
I have had this Bible since this past summer (’06) and I am very, very pleased with it. It has already seen many battles and will continue to assist me in fighting the good fight. I am becoming quite accustomed to this well-forged sword being either in hands, mounted up for battle, or by my side, ready to be unsheathed in my moment of need. Praise the Lord for the gift of his word!
