I first encoutered this Bible while reading a theological book on the doctrine of God. This Bible is clear, concise, and very accurate. I would rate this Bible ahead of the NASB Update edition. The ESV should become the standard translation for all who are not into the translation practice of "downgrading" the word of God to fit our culture or our lack of biblical understanding. The ESV also avoids theological positions of various denominations by simply translating the Hebrew, Aramiac, and Greek texts literally with little dynamic equvalence in the text. I offer this Bible as a read first, study second, and preach and teach from third. You will wind up doing all three with the ESV!
