CrosStitching5 Stars Out Of 5Well Rounded and ThoroughJune 24, 2015CrosStitchingQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I am very pleased with this curriculum. We are over halfway through the book and my son can add and subtract with proficiency and confidence. I have homeschooled him for preK and now he is in kindergarten. After reviewing the sample materials this site provides, I decided he was ready for the essentials book B instead of beginning with the book A. It was the right decision and I will do the same for my upcoming Kindergartener this year. The book is introducing word problems and a soft intro to fractions, time telling, and other skills that will be addressed in first grade. The problems are presented to children in multiple ways so that they have a thorough understanding of the concept at hand before progressing.

It is black and white, no frills, no distractions. Seems to have a good amount of practice of the skill being taught and advances at a friendly pace. "A" starts with same/different/sets and moves on, "B" ends with even/odd and fractions. The one draw back that I have found is that it does not include reviews periodically. We used the Standards Edition (K) TEXTbook previously, that was good also. The differences are that it is in color had reviews but less repition of skill (only used text not workbook) and cost more.

It is not expected that the student can already read. There isn't an overabundance of busy work. The kids seem to enjoy it.
