The music is beautiful and is especially
helpful in times of concentration... It is
so good to hear the Gospel hymns that seem
to be disappearing in the church......

This instrumental collection of CD's was purchased for my Mom since my Dad just passed away. I wanted to give her something to bring her peace and it really has. It is very soothing and she plays it at night to help her fall asleep. She also uses it during her quiet time with the Lord which is so important at this time. It makes perfect background music for anything at all. I recommend it highly.

Tell us a little about yourself. I began piano study at the age of 5 in rural Vermont. In college, I
studied Church Music and moved to Nashville in 1979. I have
been actively involved in the music recording industry as a
producer, songwriter and performer. In addition, I am also the
Director of Music/Organist at St. Bartholomew's Church in
Nashville.
What was your motivation behind this project? In this increasingly busy and hectic world, I trust this reflective
music will remind the listener of God's unchanging faithfulness
and goodness to us, and of our need, as expressed in the very
first song on the recording, to take the time to "Be still, and
know that I am God."
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? It is my desire that a deep sense of devotion, peace and joy
would be apparent as people listen to the music on this project.
I first played many of these hymn treatments at my church while
people received communion, and I desire that on this recording
as well, the words will come to the mind of the listener as they
hear the familiar melodies.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I grew up playing the piano at church, and spent hours playing
"throught the hymnal" at home - so it has been a real joy as an
adult to visit once again so many of the hymns I grew up with
and interpret them in a fresh way. Some of my personal
favorites from the recording are "My Jesus, I Love Thee", which
was the song we played together the day I met my wonderful
wife Dawn on the platform at our church, and "God Loves Us So"
which I heard my Mennonite grandmother sing in German so
many times before she went home to heaven. The additional
instrumentalists, all of whom are wonderful musicians in their
own right, are all friends who have worshipped with me at
church through music. So, it was an incredible experience to
record and worship together in the studio. They include Paul
Nelon on cello, Andy Gullahorn on mandolin and guitar, Diane
Stasio on vocals, Yun Blair on Irish pennywhistle, and Phil
Madeira on accordion.
