I was looking for an ESV Study Bible for use in my daily devotions. I've found this Bible to be very informative and useful in taking me deeper into understanding God's word. I like the introductions to each book, the timelines, and the maps that accompany each book. I find the annotations to be informative, yet not too overwhelming. This Bible is just what I was looking for at a very reasonable price.
I have greatly enjoyed reading this bible's study information on how to relate the gospel across the world. It also helped me to understand the origins of words and the modern day equivalents of biblical measurements terms.
I was so excited to get this bible, I bought TWO. (One was for a friend who needed an easier reading Bible.) I just received them today and unfortunately, I am disappointed. If it's affordable to do so, I will be returning them.
-print is *too small* to be enjoyable reading. This isn't a compact size but it's still not comfortable, "easy glance" reading either. The preview made it look like the text was larger. (I wasn't looking for large print or XL print, just something akin to a standard reading text like in a basic novel. I am 39 and have good eye-sight. )
-Paper is extremely thin. So much so, the text from the next page often bleeds through to the page you are reading. It's VERY distracting. I wanted a bible for highlighting, the super (!) thin pages will not work with that. :(
-This is a true paperback. I had thought it would be a heavier grade.
-affordable study bible with maps, illustrations, and such.
-the book does open to a page and will stay there unless you are super close to the beginning or the end. The spine doesn't need creasing to do so.
