Christians claim that Jesus is the only way to heaven. But how could a good God, who created the entire universe in all its diversity, be so limiting? Isn't it more fitting to believe that good people from any religious or nonreligious background go to heaven, rather than people from one particular belief system? And how can Christians say that Christianity is fair, when so many factors make it harder for one person to accept Jesus, and easier for another? Christians and non-Christians alike ask these important questions, and they are worthy of honest answers.
There are advantages to believing good people go to heaven, but there are also unavoidable problems. Upon close analysis, we discover that this system fails to provide us with a standard for discerning between good and bad, nor does it clarify what grade is passing. Would a good God leave us in the dark as to His standards for heaven? What is more, "Good people go to heaven" makes Jesus out to be a liar. Jesus said good people don't go to heaven, and bad people do. According to Jesus, it's forgiven people who go to heaven.

Also, what about the changes that occur in us as we mature? Our definitions of good can, and often do, change. What does that do to our ability to go to heaven? Is there a consistent measuring stick for how much good is needed to go to heaven? Each religion seems to have a different one. How do we know which one is right? Can we have any guarantees of going to heaven?
Mr. Stanley goes on to present a more biblical view: Forgiven people are the ones who go to heaven. He illustrates this through the life of Jesus on earth. He even tackles the question of deathbed salvation. How fair is that?
I love his summary of Christianity: Christianity is based on the premise that God laid aside fairness and opted for mercy and grace instead. Thats what I need and I am so-o glad that God decided to do things that way.
This book is small - 4 x 6, with only 96 pages. It is easy to read and non-offensive in its presentation. It is a great witnessing tool for those friends who have opted for the belief that good people go to heaven or that all religions lead to heaven, and would make a great gift. -- Linda Demorest, Christian Book Previews.com
