Product Description

Ravi Zacharias has been defending the Gospel for many years, and with the rise of 'new atheism' he faces off against what some have termed 'big science' - the atheistic community's ham-fisted attempt to silence any dissent to naturalist evolution. The anti-Christian movement, promoting a sort of 'pop atheism' that usually attacks Christians themselves rather than the scientific theories of creationists, has many vocal proponents. Sam Harris, author of 'Letter to a Christian Nation', is specifically addressed in Ravi's book, with others dealt with obliquely, each taken to task for their errors. But this is not simply a reverse-attack on Harris or the others; Zacharias cuts to the core of the atheist problem and presents a case for truth resolving itself in a presentation of God in the person of Jesus Christ as the intelligence behind the universe, and the end (the culmination, not the cessation) of reason.

Publisher's Description

When Sam Harris wrote his book Letter to a Christian Nation, stating that Christians display “murderous intolerance,” Dr. Ravi Zacharias felt called to answer. The End of Reason is a clear and powerful response to the “utter bankruptcy” of Harris’s New Atheism as it explains the true nature of God, the foundation for evil in the world, and the basis of true morality.

Here's an author who knows firsthand the emptiness of atheism. Born into a high-caste Hindu family, living in early adulthood as a practical atheist and finding the desperate depths of such belief, Ravi Zacharias was intercepted by Christ. Now, four decades later, a Christian scholar, teacher, speaker, ministry leader, and one of the foremost Christian apologists of today, Zacharias has the background and knowledge to carry out this books stated purpose: To tell…all who ask the hard questions about the meaning of life - that atheism is bankrupt for answers. (pg. 15) With honesty, forthrightness, and clear, understandable explanations, The End of Reason critiques Sam Harris's atheistic books. The End of Faith and Letter To a Christian Nation, which, Zacharias points out , bristle with disrespect, illogicality, and distortion. Point by point, building a well knit case, believable, and uncompromising, Zacharias provides arguments Christians can understand and use, and non-Christians can ponder and believe.

Although written to refute two particular books, The End of Reason makes immense sense whether you’ve read those books or not. The world seeks to bury Christian beliefs beneath a pile of condescending, noxious trash. This book helps us find the way out and stand proudly as we witness for our Lord. Zacharias shows exactly how illogical this non-moral, non-reasoning atheistic worldview is, how it uses extremely selective facts, and exactly how we can keep from falling for it, remaining proud and steadfast in our Christian worldview. Ravi is one of this church age great Christian thinkers and conservative theologian. Although I haven't finished the book I am intrigued by his effort to refute one of the many forces of evil against God and His infallible truth. Thus far a very good book, try it...

Ravi does a great job at confronting Atheism directly. He uses many different aspects and angles in his rebuttal. It is direct and to-the-point. Would make a great book for a Bible Study discussion.

Ravi's response to Sam Harris is knowledgeable and intelligible. He makes Sam Harris to be more of an emotional force than a smart and educated source. The irony is on Sam Harris! This book is a quick read for any person of faith or skepticism. A must have for libraries and for Christians.

It did not disappoint me at all. Ravi Zacharias, sometimes mentioned as shallow or to populist by my apologist friends, is really making some bold statement against hate sowing atheists. Very readable, very profound very thought provoking. A very, very good book!

Brilliant! Ravi Zacharias has consolidated much of his lectures into a concise response to the new atheism. It is logically sound, highly informative and spiritually refreshing. Well done Ravi for defending the faith in such a gracious manner with such convincing evidence!
