Andrew Careaga is uniquely placed to help us understand the times we live in, from an Internet viewpoint. He's a trained journalist, working in the academic and youth-oriented environment of a university publicrelations department, and is also a youth pastor. So his insights into postmodernism, youth culture and effective communication are informed by firsthand experience. This is not a theoretical abstract book in any way.Neither is it about technical web issues or even primarily about what Christians are doing to use the Internet for evangelism (the subject of his previous book). The main focus is the modern world and what he terms the 'N-generation' (web-savvy young people) and how we can effectively communicate withthem online. The quotations and footnotes display a wide breadth of research, understanding and insight. At the end of each chapter are topics for further investigation and questions to consider. Some are very appropriate for small group/seminar discussion. This very readable book deserves the widest possible circulation. There is just no other book whicheven attempts to cover the same ground. It should be required course reading for Bible college and seminary students. For anyone who wishes to understand the issues of relating to the modern world through the Web, it's essential. I would encourage us all to do everythingwe can to cause this book to be read as widely as possible: - Ask your public library and church bookstall to order it. - Write a book review for your church newsletter- Link to this page from any website

Author/Artist Review

Tell us a little about yourself.  I'm a volunteer youth pastor and a writer who enjoys playing on the Internet. "eMinistry" is my second book about the Internet and Christianity. My first book is "E-vangelism: Sharing the Gospel in Cyberspace," published in 1999.

What was your motivation behind this project?  I wrote "eMinistry" because of my interests in youth ministry and the Internet, and because I saw the need for a book that addresses the opportunities Christians have to minister to Net- savvy teens.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  My hope is that readers of "eMinistry" will gain a better understanding of how the Internet and other digital technologies influence the way young people process information, think about spiritual matters, and share their faith. I also hope readers will gain a better appreciation for the many wonderful Christian resources available online.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  I have several influences. C.S. Lewis, Brennan Mannning, Philip Yancey, Leonard Sweet and Bob Briner are perhaps the most influential Christian writers in my life.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  "eMinistry" is my challenge to Christians to creatively use technology to reach the "Net Generation." God bless all who enter this new virtual mission field to share the gospel!
