In Effective Biblical Counseling, Gold Medallion Award-winning author Dr. Larry Crabb presents a model of counseling that can be gracefully integrated into the functioning of the local church. He asserts that counseling is simply a relationship between people who care and that its goal is to free people to better worship and serve God. This book will show you how to help people achieve obedience and character growth in their lives, and establish a sense of personal worth and security along the way. Dr. Crabb says, "I believe that God has ordained the local church to be his primary instrument to tend to his people's aches and pains. In writing this book I have tried to be of practical help to Christians who want to be more effective in ministering to their suffering brothers and sisters."
Dr. Larry Crabb is a well-known psychologist, conference and seminary speaker, Bible teacher, popular author, and founder/director of NewWay Ministries. He is currently Scholar in Residence at Colorado Christian University in Denver and Visiting Professor of Spiritual Formation for Richmont Graduate University in Atlanta. Dr. Crabb and his wife of forty-six years, Rachael, live in the Denver, Colorado area. For additional information please visit www.newwayministries.org

Paul C. Kranz5 Stars Out Of 5November 23, 2007Paul C. KranzOf all of the counseling books I have read in graduate school Effective Biblical Counseling has been the best. Dr. Crabb goes into great detail on how men get their self-worth mainly from significance and women from security. This concept has helped more of my clients than any other approach.
Ralph Bach5 Stars Out Of 5February 27, 2007Ralph BachDr. Crabb did an excellent job in giving an overview of emotional or psychological problems, and the role of Christian counseling. It was the best textbook I could have started with on my journey to a graduate degree in this discipline, and I whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone who wants a general understanding of the counseling process.
