I highly recommend this textbook. We have tried several different grammar programs with some success, but I was unhappy with the sequence in which things were taught. Plus, I have limited knowledge of grammar myself, which made teaching the subject a bit of a challenge ... I had to learn as I taught. Last year someone gave me a copy of Easy Grammar, and after familiarizing myself with the method they use, I fell in love with it. My son (and I) are learning Grammar at a very rapid rate. He is in 5th grade, and I would say he now knows more about Grammar than many high school students. Don't be intimidated by the prepositional approach - it is very easy to understand, and Grammar makes sense to me for the first time. The author takes you through the learning process step by step. Finally - a Grammar program that encourages mastary of each step before a new step is learned!
I am so highly impressed with this program, I am looking into Easy Writing too.

My 11 year old daughter and I really like this grammar curriculum because it simplifies the process of identifying the subject/noun and predicate/verb in sentences. It is very easy to use and as a homeschooling mother of three, that is a definite benefit.

When I was in 7th grade, I came home with a "C" in English on my first quarter report card. My dad, who taught English in a different school district, was horrified, and immediately began tutoring me with the approach he took with his classes: first memorize prepositions, then identify nouns & pronouns, then verbs, helping verbs, adverbs, and so on, including proper punctuation. I never again had any difficulties with grammar. So you can understand how thrilled I was when I discovered Wanda Phillips's Easy Grammar series. My children (three now in college)have used this curriculum, and have had no difficulties with grammar, either. I'm using the "Plus" edition this year with my youngest. Taking grad courses myself, I referred to this text to correct a prof who had graded me down on a paper for using proper punctuation for possessives (ex: Phillips's NOT Phillips' or Phillip's). Just a heads-up, Microsoft Word Spellcheck often gets this particular rule wrong.
Easy Grammar Plus is high school level work. I'd recommend ordering the overall book for the teaching parent ($30.99) plus a student workbook ($12.99)for each child.

This series, in my opinion, is by far the most non- frustrating grammar program available. We are a home school family of 12 Yrs. My children were so thrown off course when I would try to change up a year here and there by using a different English Curriculum. They "grasp" grammar with ease using this WONDERFUL program. Isn't that our goal?

I do NOT recommend this book. It is a teacher's edition, even though the description makes it sound like a helpful book to a student. Every single page of the book is, for all practical purposes, an answer key, not an exercise. If you're looking for a teacher's edition, Great! However, if you want a book a student could use (which is what I thought I was ordering), plan on asking for a return label.

This book is wonderful! I'm a 5th grade teacher and I have used it for the past 3 years. My students learn so quickly and have retained their information. I get a joy out of hearing my former students come back and tell me they were so glad at the way I taught them English because it made it easier for them all the way through high school. Teachers are always wanting to know what I'm doing and they fight wanting my students in their classrooms! Thanks for a super way to teach English!

I wish it was set up better for making lesson plans. It is difficult for me to organize. But I like the teaching style and doing the prep. first.
