When I bought this teacher's guide, I didn't realize that the student pages were included and could be copied for student use. I am glad that I bought the student workbook because as thick as the teacher's guide is, it would be a chore to copy the student pages. But it would have been nice to know that upfront. I think that I would prefer this teacher's guide without the student pages, honestly, because of how cumbersome the book is at almost 700 pages. So if the teacher's guide had all of the student pages removed and was a lot less bulky, it could be less expensive, and buying the student workbook easier to do. I don't care for the organization of the book - the arrangement of how the parts of speech are introduced. I also don't really like how the different topics are taught. I have tried several different grammar approaches because I haven't found one I really like, and after this one, I'll keep searching.
This is an amazing set-up. I felt like I had good curriculum we were using before, but this is the best. We are using 2 grade levels and they are nearly on the same topic so far so that is a bonus. But it really spells out most of what you need to say to the student. My boys are doing very well with this.
The one negative I would say is that, it is not fully clear how much should be an individual (daily) lesson. I went through the entire book at the beginning and mapped out lessons. Some days it is really only one page while other days may be more like 3 or 4 pages. We will most certainly use this again.
The other thing that would be nice just for the ease of use would be if it were spiralbound. Well it can't be perfect I guess :-) Thank You Easy Grammar!
This book guides you as you learn in nonsensical order for greatest retention of information. After going through this material the written or spoken word will not make you look illiterate or ignorant. I am impressed by the learning flow and students have responded well to the teaching.
