Reflecting the raw energy of U2 and the heavy metal sound of Metallica, East West takes their hard-hitting message outside the church walls. Their debut release includes "Song X" (featured in the movie Extreme Days), "Closure," "Superstar," "Let You," and other alternative rock tunes.

Hard rock with a strong leaning towards metal. Definitely not my usual style (I stick with melodic rock.) But this is simply too good to pass up. I'm honestly spellbound. EastWest is musical excellence. The spiritual message is not very overt but the lyrics are hard-hitting and true. "Wake" opens with the sound of a wind and a clock tickign down till the vocalist starts whispering the verse...and the screamed chorus. Throughout the album, the guitars are out of control and the vocals are screams...but it's never too much. It's never pure noise...the songs all remain true compositions. "Song X" is rap-influenced and features a cool bass/drums intro. "Nephesh" is possibly my favorite...hard hitting screamed chorus, satan yelling insults at the believer..."you're never going to become just like Him!" Closure is ok, but sort of mediocre. Disturbed has weird noises, silent verses, a loud chorus...the meaning is vague...but it seems like an individual blaming God. Pictures is a good twist with sudden brief acoustic guitar. Ded is the ultimate screamer of the album. Once you get the message of the song in your soul though...it becomes a worthwhile listen...the idea being the earth crying out for God's return. She Cries is the best ballad I've ever heard, period. It is soft and beautiful...with a guitar solo in the middle that almost brings tears...at over 5 minutes it's quite a masterpiece. Superstar is alternative rock. Breathe is rapcore...simple song but very catchy. Let You Go is a complement to She Cries, but louder and with a strings section...also very emotional. Stunning work and worth it because of the diverse styles.

This album really rocks. Hard hitting and with a good mix of songs and sounds. Heavier than P.O.D. with a more metal leaning, good stuff to blow speakers with!

When I first got this CD I just sat back and thought to myself, "Man... This stuff really KICKS." If you love hardcore and gritty music, combined with vocals that don't turn your stomach but still have lots of power, this is definitely your band. When it comes to Christian core, The light in Guineveres garden is just that, at it's best. I haven't found a better sounding Christian core group yet. While they're not as professional as bands like disturbed or system of the down, they don't lack kick or punch.

I agree with Bryan and other review writers. East West definitely doesn't sound as professional as POD or Project 86 but they still rock hard and rock really well. I'm not really good at comparing artists to other artists but I think East West sounds like Korn and System of a Down music with Disturbed vocals. My favorite songs are Wake, Song X Disturbed, She Cries, and Breathe (that is one fast rap metal song). You guys definitely deserved the Dove award for hard music album.

WOW!!!!! This cd plain out rocks. And no, they're not as polished or professional as P.O.D., but personally I prefer East West because of the brutality of the rock they dish out. And there is a couple of softer songs that I don't like quite as much, but still pretty good. Go out and get this one if you're a fan of Project 86, P.O.D. or any other hard rock band.

These guys sound twice as good as Metallica. I know because I used to be a big fan of Metallica. When I first heard Song X it was shocking to find such hard metal Christian rock. Buy the cd, it is worth it.

This band has more simple raw power than any rock band I've ever heard before! All the songs on the album just blew me away. I love all of the hard-hitting vocals, and roaring guitars on all of the tracks. I really like it when a singer is both good at screaming and yelling vocals, and at plain singing, which this singer definitely is. I also really like how some of the songs, like Wake, Nephesh, and Ded, the music is more hard-hitting, and on some songs, like She Cries, Superstar, and Let you go, the music is a little more mellow. No complaints from me on this album. Some of my personal favorites from this CD are Song X, Closure, Pictures, and Ded. If you like this album, check out In a Perfect World by .rod laver. One more thing before I go.
