Tell us a little about yourself. I entered the world of writing after a career in music education. My passion is to write about lesser known Bible characters. I've had opportunity to speak about my book in churches, conferences, and even on a cruise!
What was your motivation behind this project? I know it sounds overused, but God led me to write and then revealed the lead Bible character. When I had sluggish days at the computer, it was only the firm belief that God had led in this project that kept me going.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? My prayer is that the story will make Scripture come alive for readers. I hope as they walk with Malchus, they will identify with his weariness of unfulfilling routine and his honest look at Jesus in spite of the negative influences around him.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? This project was an intensely growing experience for me in discerning God's will, learning the writing process as well as researching and editing. I discovered that when God gives us a task, He equips us for that task.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I have participated in several Bible studies which has taught me to love the Word of God. I found inspiration in writers such as Ellen Gunderson Traylor and Francine Rivers who write in the same genre as I do.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: While writing this book, I stood amazed at the way God brought just the right people at just the right time to help me. I recently wrote a 6-week Bible study to go with Ears to Hear. I'm also working on a second novel about Nicodemus.
