This is a great book! I bought it for my two boys ages 9 and 11. They both loved it too. It has adventure, history and good morals. We all learned a lot about history and I loved the underlying Christian messages. I would highly recommend this book to everyone. We read all three books in this series. Matter of fact I'm back online looking for more of his books.

Inspiring heroes, cruel English villains, a courageous uprising, and a secret tunnel will draw readers of all ages into this engaging story. We first meet fourteen-year-old Duncan M'Kethe as he is, in his father Sandy's terms, "playacting" instead of watching his sheep. However, increasing oppression of his own and neighboring families for their religious convictions forces peace loving Sandy M'Kethe, along with Duncan, into a bloody conflict that ends in devastation. Duncan must mature quickly as he sees the price others have paid for their religious devotion. And in the end he has to take an extreme risk to keep his father from paying that same price. Infused with historical fact, "Duncan's War" makes us believe, for a short time, that we are truly in Scotland. And it accurately depicts the struggles our predecessors faced to follow their convictions.
