Lots of great content! My boys, who are 14 and 9, thought Dave Stotts was a little goofy, but that's okay, he made it entertaining for my girls who are 7 and 5 and didn't understand all the information that was being given. I haven't used the book, just wanted to use the DVD to help bring up topics to discuss with my kids. They go to a Christian school, but I really wanted to supplement what they were learning and drive home the fact that our nation was started on Christian principals.
RobinAberdeen, MarylandAge: 35-44Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5Not exactly what I expectedFebruary 4, 2014RobinAberdeen, MarylandAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3Drive thru History has been a favorite of our son for a few years now, so I ordered Drive thru History America as his history resource for sixth grade. I realize it was recommended for 6-12th grade levels, but our son is an avid reader, and I thought this would work. The DVD is great, of course, highly entertaining, but it does repeat some segments we already watched in other Drive Thru History videos (the first 4 about Pennsylvania, etc.) In all fairness, there is some new material too. I was very disappointed in the book that accompanied the video. There was some quality information it it, but it included some debate topics that I think are not age appropriate for sixth grade. It also seemed to lack a cohesive organization strategy, and I found it difficult to break the chapters into different days of assignments. I have just given up on trying to use the textbook that came in this set. It is just too difficult to use. However, we LOVE the Drive Thru History videos, and will probably order the series about the ancient times, recognizing that I will need to supplement them with some other written history resource.

Q: Is there a good American history book to use alongside this series?
Besides the included workbook, there is not a specific history book to accompany this. Some suggested supplemental reading would be WW78304 "George Washington's World", WW96845 "A Child's Story of America" or WW79453 "Lives of The Signers".
Q: Is this a full year curriculum? My kids are having a hard time following the abeka is this a full year curriculum or a supplemental. I like abeka but would like to find a dvd that could be used in conjunction with abeka?
This curriculum contains 9 lessons. It would count as ¼ to ½ year depending on the number of supplemental activities you choose to complete.
Q: Stotts or Barton? The LOGO is the same as Drive Thru History with Dave Stotts. Is Dave Stotts in this DVD or David Barton?
The curriculum is written by David Barton. Dave Stotts is featured in the short DVD clips, which are taken from the Drive Thru History series.
