The recipient of this gift says her family is enjoying this very much and they are all learning a lot. It is fun to watch.

I was disappointed in this series after reading all the great reviews and viewing the trailers. Dave Stotts' approach is definitely fast paced but almost too fast with historical facts being peppered in between his travelogue comments. I live in Virgina and know more could be said. The first episode jumps from the founding of Jamestown crossing the state to Woodstock and a biography of a Revolutionary War hero almost 180 years later in seconds. He then traveled back across the state to Wiliamsburg, of which no real history was given, then to Yorktown. Stott's staccato-like delivery and lack of continuity between subjects left me in a whirl-wind. There was no context to connect the different segments of the episode. In order to use this for education I have to break this up into tiny bits to incorporate it into my curriculum. Otherwise it will just be an entertainment overview of some interesting tidbits of information. Overall, a disappointment.

I've ordered the entire series for our 8-9 year old grandsons. Being from Virginia and being able to actually be on-site is wonderful. Dave Stotts really makes history come alive.

Dave Stotts does it again. He brings humor and intrigue into remembering American History. Highly recommend this one!
