What Your Dreams are Telling You is a do-it-yourself guide to interpreting your own dreams. As one who dreams a lot, I was excited to read this book, but, as a Christian, I was highly disappointed in its content. Author Cindy McGill obviously has a lot of expertise in the area, I just expected a more Christ-centered book than what I found - especially considering it's published by Chosen Books, who claim to publish "well-crafted books that recognize the gifts and ministry of the Holy Spirit and help readers live more empowered and effective lives for Jesus Christ." In this book, however, I found that lacking.

McGill identifies a framework for dream interpretation, laying down seven principles to guide the interpretation. But, to be honest, they were just too vague and almost new-agey to me. She talks about how we are all "receiving life messages in [our] dreams" (p29), but she doesn't do a very good job of identifying the source of those messages (to be fair she does they can come from one of three sources: self, truth, or lie, but there's never what I would consider a suitable way of discerning which of the sources one is dealing with). And perhaps I missed it, but I was 39 pages into the book before I found any reference to "God", and of her seven principals it was the final one (#7) that even introduced the idea of connecting with God (though here he is referred to by the generic "giver of dreams" and elsewhere she chooses to use the more generic "Creator" or "God" when referring to Him). She does reference the Holy Spirit on page 91, but he is referenced almost apologetically when she writes, "I encourage you to ask the Spirit of Truth to come and help you interpret your dreams." Why is this a simple suggestion? Isn't it reasonable to assume that if there is a "Spirit of Truth" then that would be the ultimate source for dream interpretation and without his input there would be no interpretation?

So how long did it take to find Jesus in the book? Again, unless I missed it, he shows up on page 155 (the book, without appendixes, is 156 pages, so the penultimate page of the book). She talks about how she had an "encounter" with God through Jesus and the changes that have happened as a result. But here's the kicker: she says, "But that is my story." (p156, emphasis hers). Yes, I understand dreams are personal and so is a relationship with Christ. But it stands to reason that if Christ is "the Way, the Truth, and the Life" as Jesus claims he is, that more than being just "her" story, every story must start in the same place: with surrender to God's will through faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior.

And it was that message that was absent throughout the book. Her insight on symbolism in dreams and the stories of people who have "heard" the messages they were being told through dreams are all insightful and inspiring. But at the end of the day there's nothing in this book that points back to Jesus; it's all about "me". And I was looking for something more.

So I'm giving this book a 1.5/5 stars. For the record, I did receive a free copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for an honest, though not necessarily favorable, review.

Dreams are how God communicates with us without scaring the crap out of us. Think about it, do you think God does not send an angel down to speak to you because they are all so busy or because it would totally traumatize you and you would never be able to get your focus off of the visit for your entire life?

God communicates with us through our dreams because it is a gentle way in which He can talk with us without scaring us.

The authors did a wonderful job with this book. Since man began, God has come to us in dreams. Dreams are the key to unlocking our full potential and success in life. God wants only good for us but we have to listen and know when He is speaking to us. I received a free copy of the book from Chosen books in exchange for writing a review. However, this book gets a 5 star review because it has earned a place on my permanent book case.

Often the line between success and failure is a fine line and this book can give you that edge you need and are looking for to succeed. The authors talk about how God has communicated with us since time began and how we need to think about and write down our dreams so we can determine what they are trying to tell us. The authors also give a long reference chart on meaning of some common issues and symbols in dreams. Through the Bible there were people who became successful and powerful because they were able to understand dreams. This book will put that power into the hands of the reader. it is an awesome book and I would say a wonderful Christmas gift!!

Have you ever wondered what your dreams mean? Have you ever wanted to receive wise advice about a relationship or a direction in life? Tonight you will have several dreams. Did you know they could contain the very advice you need?

Here Cindy gives you the tools for discovering and decoding these hidden messages, including:

    * 3 steps to discover the geunine message from your dream, And more.

I chose this book to review because I thought it looked really interesting and beacuse I thought it might tell me what my dreams meant. It was really interesting, and I liked the historical storys such as dreams about the sinking of the Titanic and how the sewing machine was invented but it didn't really apply to the type of dreams I have. From what the author said about dreams, mine don't seem to be saying much! Anyway this book didn't tell me anything much about my dreams but that dosent mean it wouldn't for someone else.

Personally, dream interpretation is very complex and after reading this book my opinion stands. My expectation after reading this book was to possess a better understanding of dreams. The author provides a ton of information on the topic which I found interesting. Acquiring the ability for dream interpretation is not as simple as it seems. When looking for solutions presented in your dreams, there's a lot that has to be considered and evaluated. However if you have a desire to go deeper into your dreams to determine the message, this book would be beneficial to you. Thanks Chosen Books for providing this book free of charge and also for allowing me to share my true opinion.

Dreams have inspired inventions such as the sewing machine and helped Frederick Banting discover insulin. Paul McCartney claims "Yesterday" came to him in a dream. These are things you learn from reading "What Your Dreams Are Telling You" by Cindy McGill. Books have been written and futures have been settled.

Joseph, a famous dreamer in the Bible, was also able to interpret dreams with God's help. The Bible recounts the dreams of several which had an impact on the world. They foretold famines, punishments, and the birth of a Savior. But what are your dreams telling you? According to McGill, when our dreams are properly interpreted, they bring guidance, hope and strength to achieve the impossible. In her book, she shows how to get the most of our dreams, common themes and what they mean, three steps to discovering the genuine message from your dreams, a reference guide to dream symbols and how to reawaken your dream life.

In order to get the most out of her book, readers must keep an open mind. You should listen to what your dreams are telling you and be willing to act on them if necessary in order to get the full benefit of your dreams.
